I have a LGDVX9900H DVD recorder with built-in Freeview.

For some reason if I set it to record from Film4 it records ITV2 instead. I've tested it a few times on different channels and seems to work fine, it just seems to happen with Film4. I'm frankly baffled by this and am hopeing that someone can at least tell me why this might be happening becase I'm stuck

Please help, when I last tried to record, instead of being able to watch District 13, I ended uo with What Katie Did Next... this is disruptive to my mental well being!

Did you do the full channel rescan that has been needed since Wednesday?

Thanks for replying so quickly. Yeah I did the full re-scan and it seems to have sorted all the channels out fine, think it'll help if I do it again?

If you are talking about timed recordings then the retune event may be confusing the internal system of your recorder.

Have you tried deleting the timed recordings and redoing them?

Alternatively there might be an issue with the LG firmware which is not coping with the retune.

Retune again. But my PVR got the wrong (neighbouring) transmitter at first.
Managed it on another retune.

I got BBC1 on CH60 when it should have been 26.
Caused dropouts etc.

Worst case low channels/high channels.
Set a retune going, but unplug the aerial feed for the first or last minute.
Or whatever so it doesnt pick up the low channels or the high channels.

I tried a re-tune, no difference .

I watch freeview through the DVD player all the time and the channels are correct, it's also putting the correct channel number on the present timer list when I set it, it just seems to want to swap to channel 6 not channel 15

Just out of interest.

When you have set it up to record Channel 15 do you then switch to watching ITV2? Or do you watch ITV2 while it should be recording Film 4?

Most DVD recorders only have a single tuner. So cannot be made to record one channel while you watch another. Maybe that is the problem? You are trying to do something the recorder is not able to do?

If you want to be able to record an entirely different channel to the one you are watching you need two tuners. One for each function. This could be one in a Freeview TV and one in the recorder or both in the recorder. But twin tuner recorders usually record only to an internal hard drive and don't have DVD capability.

Is this the correct model number?, the DVX-9900H appears to be an upscaling DVD player only.

Perhaps you have another LG DVD recorder with Freeview and feed that into the upscaling LG DVD player?

Not that it matters! I havn't a clue as to your problem, sorry.

No I'll be watching any channel and then when it's time to record it switches the channel, only it's changing to ITV2 rather than Film4.

Tassium:

That's the model number it has on my very unhelpful manual. I think there is a player only with the same or a very similar number because when I bought it I got it for about £150 less than it should have been because I think the shop got confused.

It definitly got a recorder though, an it used to work!

Have you tried doing a full back to "out of the box" state reset on it? That will clear out all existing tuning information and loads of other settings as well.

I have a feeling that somewhere something has got a bit screwy. If you can dial up Film 4 on the remote and get that and not ITV2 then it suggests the tuner is OK. So it must be something else. A full reset of the machine might clear out whatever it is that has gone pear shaped and let normal service resume as they say.

My Humax recorder wouldn't retune correctly either, I had to perform a 'system reset' (which wipes all the channels and settings), it retuned fine then.

Perhaps your recorder is the same, and retuning doesn't overwrite the existing EPG settings.

It's strange that the model number is only that for an upscaling DVD player.

Could the OP confirm this model number by actually looking on the back of the unit?

I can only find one retune thing in all the menus. I'll keep trying though.

Tassium - I checked on the player and the model says DRT389H. I think they've got confused somewhere along the line though as the manual has all the info about recording. There must be some dissapointed folks with the other model!

Try this option:

Initialization – You can reset the unit to its original factory settings.

Page 16 of the instruction book from the LG website.

DRT389H sounds right, the manual must have the right info but the wrong model number printed.

I would try initialization as suggested.

Looking in the DRT389H manual it has a feature called "DTV Diagnostics" which gives details about the Freeview bit, might be worth taking a look if Initialize does not work.

It's randomly fixed itself! I was about to try that initilization thing and thought I'd just check again first.

Most odd, I'm gonna blame the retune I think.

Thank you for all your help anyway
