I managed to get my daughter a cheap Sony K800i from Ebay about 3/4 months ago and its been working fine until yesterday when it's now dead. It wont turn on at all, am I back to square one again, does this have to go in the bin or is there anything I can do.
If anyone has one for a resonable price I would be very grateful.
I am not out for sympathy but my daughter is disabled and it took her ages to be able to use this model and I think having to change to a different one would make life even more difficult.
Thanks

I was looking for a K800i a few months ago, but as it was such a popular phone the price for a new one was still pretty high.
Have just done a quick search, and there are still some (new and used) available through Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-lis...&condition=new

I'd always be tempted to buy new if possible, as you never really know the score with a used handset. But I guess it depends how far your budget will stretch.

I'd advise against doing any sort of deal on DS just as I would against any site that's not set up for buying and selling.

I recommend having a look around on your local Gumtree - www.gumtree.com

Not sure what your budget is, but the K770i is pretty much the same phone and can probably be picked up for around £70?

Slightly off topic but. . . If paid by credit card it will be on your statement, even if not the shop will have a record of when they sold it to you so they have no excuse not to get it sorted for you.

I recall.

Hope you at least got a cheap unlock for it.

I got that D600i with K800i software loaded out of the cupboard last time.
Its got a PAYG Virgin SIM in it that's working.
Locked still.

And yes DS can be dodgy.
Only done one deal for which I lost £11.50! when I never got the goods.

An ID called 'Curious Cat' that not so curiously left DS soon after. Paypal as usual were in league with the criminals!

Sorry, I didn't read the last part of your message. Does the D600i memory card slot and a camera.
Anna is a little B....R sometimes and says she wants another K800i but I have explained that she may have to have something different. With the D600i having the K800i software she might manage it ok, please let me know what you were thinking about.
regards

I still don't use the D600i if you want it.
I never got round to selling it as could be a useful backup.

Camera I think is 2MP, 1MP smaller.

The card inside is either 256 or 2GB.
Certain I have a 2GB somewhere.

Found my charger but not sure about headphones which have the weird plug on.
Battery is possibly A1 conditon.

OK checked. Its a 2.0 megapixel. Memory (MS Pro slot) is empty. Am sure I used an adapter somewhere recently with it though so will look further if you come back.

Software is the K800i which gives the option of flight mode(mp3 player) or phone at startup.

I think it would help to take the pressure out of things a little, thank you again for your consideration

Just checked who Virgin use.
Its T-Mobile which was what I had on contract.

Forgot which one you were on.
Sound is perfect by the way.

ALso note that phones are easy to learn and can be had for £10 in carphone warehouse or Asda unlocked! (at least last time I looked)

test. (new posts are not showing!)

edit - well that worked.

I had best ask to to first ring the person who unlocked your phone and ask if he can unlock a software updated D600i.

I can assure you I only ever tried to do it free online as got a new phone free with 3.

Note that my PAYG Sim has £9 something on it if you can switch/move to Virgin. (quite quick to port your number now methinks)

Commonish fault - you should be able to get it repaired FOC if under warranty (Carphone Warehouse are authorised Sony Ericsson repair centres and can do repairs quicker than T-Mobile in my experience).

As for the original K800i - have you tries borrowing your other daughters battery? My colleagues stopped working but it turned out the battery would no longer charge - replaced the battery and all was well again.

FWIW most Sony Ericssons are very similar to one another (I can switch back to my T68i from my C905 quite easily if needed) although they do have some slight idiosyncrasies - normally the back button moving around!
