Linux SIP Client

Hi,

I've recently got an Acer Aspire One netbook, which is a great little machine, but it comes loaded with Linux.

I'm desperately looking for a SIP client for it. I hear SJPhone is decent, but my problem is I don't have a clue how to load applications under linux. I know the OS comes a little locked down and I've managed to unlock it and installed Skype and VLC , but that was by following step by step instructions.

Does anyone know where I could get instructions for installing a SIP client under Linux (specifically Linpus Lite)?

Thanks, Paul.

Hi,

Just in case anyone is in a similar position to me, I found a solution here.

Works perfectly.

Paul.

I see you worked out a solution to the problem

Linpus is based on Fedora Linux

Other popular VOIP phone clients on Linux include linphone and Ekiga (requires GNOME desktop).

You may be able to install those using the same method (sudo yum install xxxxxx)

I went the other route with my aspire one and installed ubuntu, this opened up a huge software base to the machine and in my opinion is more friendly than linpus lite!
