thanks

What do you see on the front panel display - BOOT?

Is the box itself booting up OK, but you are getting a black/green/blank screen on your TV due to HDMI handshaking? Can you cycle through your TVs Scart & HDMI input sources to see it?

Let us know what the front panel says after you think it has had enough time to boot up.

Rgds.

OK, so it is stuck in Boot, then.

You need to be able to get to the menu to try a Factory Reset.

I don't know if this will work to allow that, but can you remove your cables (switch the box off fully from the power first), and then switch on again. Does this then enable a boot to get you into the Menus?

Sorry, I wasn't very clear ...

By Cables, I mean your satellite cables coming from your Dish/LNBs. Unscrew the F-Connectors at the back of the box where they go into the LNB-in ports, then switch on and boot up again.

Even with the satellite cables out?

I can't think of anything else that would free the lockup to get you to the Menu screens - anyone else?

Otherwise, looks like you will need to get it exchanged. How old is it, and where did you buy it from?

Last chance might be HDMI cable out as well as both connections for satellite and any other connection. Power On and check the HUMAX display after say five minutes.

Yes that's not a bad idea to try; also maybe try connecting via Scart, or also taking Scart out if you have it connected.

cheers guys,
just had a play putting just the scart in no hdmi, then other way around. Dish cables in and out .The set box doesn't make any whirring sounds on start up could the drive be dead?
I bought the set from martin dawes in june have emailed them but no respones yet(may be because of the week end) was hoping there was a abit of jiggery pockery someone could surgest to fix/reset the box without messing about sending the set back. also just a fought the box died on wednesday the day the freeview boxes needed retuning would this effect the humax freesat?

@jonilaal,

One thing that used to help in this situation with the Humax Freeview boxes was to switch off at rear, and then switch on again whilst simultaneously holding in front standby button - worth a try.

Then, if you've tried all suggestions, you can certainly go for an exchange in the knowledge that you couldn't do any more.

HTH.

Hi
I had this problem from new and the only thing I did was use change the HDMI lead. I actually used a new HDMI lead that I bought but once I used the one supplied it booted up good style!

Hope you get it sorted.

Switch off power. Hold the ON button pressed, then switch power back on. Keep the ON button pressed until BOOT disappears. No connections have any relevance as the machine hasn`t reached the stage where it can check connections. Try that, it always works with Philips machines
Good luck with that

I would phone them, they do seem to have an over aggressive spam filter. The 2 year warranty is backed by humax anyway.
