hi all

my wife lost her iphone 3g 2 days back and it had a pin on it

i just wanted to know can these be unlocked as i would feel even more gutted if i knew someone else could use it

ive been checking ebay just incase someone tried listing it

it was only insured via my house insurance, which only covered damage

is there a way of tracking it if it gets connected up to itunes ?

if the phone was registered with MobileMe, then you could track it - otherwise there's nothing you can do.

It is very annoying isn't it? I lost my iPhone 2G in Crete at the end of august. Very frustrating. Mine had a code on it as well, i just blocked it obviously but hope nobody is using it. I did lose it in like a forest so I doubt it. Hope you can find a solution.

No real way of tracking it unless you are a mobileme subscriber. I wouldn't worry about it too much, they can be unlocked but it is rather difficult. You did the right thing by having a PIN on it, there's not a huge amount left you can do.

Ring your provider and tell them you lost the phone, they will take the IMEI of the device and block the bugger so it can't be used on any UK network. As I understand it as well the iPhone's IMEI can't be changed so this is a good thing!
