Sony RDR-HXD870 Problems with Digital Analogue Display

Hey guys,

What's happened is the display for the digital and analogue channels suddenly went blank, all i can hear is audio.

I've tried re-tuning the channels, didn't work. Turning the recorder on and off, didn't work. Also switching the antenna on and off, didn't work aswell.

I did notice one thing. The display for the re-tuning process didn't show on-screen and the info display for the digital channels also did not display on screen.

I've tested my antenna by watching it on another tv and it still works.

So I assume it's probably a firmware malfunction?

The system menu shows fine. and also the "black bar display panels" displays ok aswell.

Anyone got any ideas to how I can fix this? I might try giving sony a call, see what can they do to help.

We've sold many hundreds of these receivers, they have been absolutely 'bomb proof', we've had one faulty one, and that was just an HDD failure.

Biggest complaint about them is the crappy Guide+ EPG, we get more people ringin moaning about that - it's truely terrible!

You say you've 'switched it off', was that just on the front - or did you unplug the mains? - the switch on the front doesn't turn it 'off'.

I meant that i tried unplugging the mains.

I'm not sure how it happened really. I've had the receiver for about a year now and never had any problems with it.

But the problem still remains, I've had to plug a freeview box into the back and record from it from the input (line1). Bit annoying at the moment having to manually record things.
