Just changed to Foxstat from Humax Freview
and am wondering if it is possible to change the partition size without losing the saved recordings ,I wish to keep the music and photos to a minimum or even eliminate this facility.

No you have to format both partitions to get to the partition size slider. You can't eliminate it the music/jpeg partition has a minimum size of 1 Gb

Welcome to the forum trout34. Unfortunately adjusting the partition size requires the Hdd to be reformated so you will loose any recordings stored. If you have a separate USB storage device you could transfer your SD and non-encrypted HD. BBC HD recordings are flagged as copy once so you will be able to transfer from the hdd to another device and back again. But be aware transferring Hd material takes a long time

What about if you connect the disk to a linux PC?

If you did that you could easily copy all the existing recordings to a PC drive, reformat in the hdr and then transfer them all back again
