I must admit I haven't had any problem doing it on my w995. Are you able to actually connect to your wifi network in the first place? If you are, can you access other data (try browsing a few web pages) successfully?

Sorry this isn't much help but I am not sure exactly where you are having the problem.

I can connect to wi-fi and I have been able to watch youtube ok on it, but when I go the iPlayer it says connection failed. But I can navigate around the pages ok before I select one

I had the same issue, the phone would always fail to connect to the media server. The only way I could get it to work was to go into the Streaming settings and change the Allow local conn. setting to NO. That then seems to connect via GPRS rather than WiFi. I have a BT router but I don't think that is the issue because my Touch HD works via WiFi without any problems. Not sure if I'll ever need to use it but I wanted to see it in action and that was the only way I could get it to work.

Random shot in the dark here: Geo IP blocking from the BBC? Whats your ISP or the ISP of the WiFi connection you're using?

I'm having the same problem. Connect to wifi no problem but I keep being asked for a passphrase whatever that is.
The networks that come up are TalkTalk, BTHome and O2wireless.
