iPhone 3GS Problems

Hi everyone

In the last few days ive been having a major problem with my iphone that i bought pay as you go in july.

Basically my phones works fine then all of a sudden it wont register any touches on the screen. Sometimes if you wait a minute it wil then register the touches and allow you to carry on using it, however most of the time i have to press the top button to lock it and then press it again to unlock and then the screen registers my touches. This is happening all the time now, virtually everytime i use it.

Has anyone else had this same problem?

What do i do about it? I dont have an apple store near me and i dont fancy sending it off in the post to be without a phone for god knows how long.

Hope someone can help or share their own experiences with this sort of problem.

Thanks.

Have you tried re-booting and what software version are you using (not that the version should impact the touchscreen).

Hey... i have a little update. I decided to ring apple as i was panicing a bit and i can only say that their telephone support service is the best i have ever experienced. Rang straight through to a well spoken english person with excellent knowlege.

In the end it seemed like it was only a simple reset that may have solved my problems as so far since i reset (hold power and home button until u see the apple logo) it has been fine.

The guy on the phone called me back on my housephone, he was very clear in his instructions and very friendly. He sent me an email with how to backup restore and update the iphone in case the simple reset did not solve the problem.

He thinks that the issue may have been caused by one of the applications not closing down properly and possibly being open in the background and therefore when i was carrying out other tasks on the phone it was causing it to freeze. He said if i do get the issue back then a full restore from new would also maybe solve the issue as its like loading all the apps on from scratch again.

Very pleased with the service and the fact that so far my issue seems to be fixed!! So glad i didnt have to make a 150 mile trip to my nearest apple store!!
