You can buy all sorts of fancy sandwiches in addition to egg or cheese and tomato, but no corned beef

Probably no demand for it. Not fancy enough. Although they taste nice, they don't look very appealing.

Tastes like dog sick to me, I am grateful for the decline in corned beef. I think as a nation we boycotted it in the early 80's, something to do with a war? Never got back into it.

I quite like corned beef but as I've never tasted dog sick I can't comment on the accuracy of the comparison.

Probably not considered posh enough these days.

Personally, I'd just love to find a plain cheese sandwich, without bloody mayonnaise, and with cut, not grated cheese.

You should be grateful you are not pregnant, or you'd get no bloody cheese at all, grated or not!

Make one then, two slices of brown bread, one slice of corned beef and tomato pickle.

I don't think corned beef is any different to other cold meats.

Corned beef sandwiches with brown sauce are very tasty.

Agree with you OP, simple but tasty.

With regards to the similarity to 'dog sick', I have to question, who has ever tasted dog sick (sandwich or otherwise) to be in a postion to make the comparison? I appreciate it is a turn of phrase only, but a rather obscure one.

They both do them occasionally.

Also Ginsters and Heinz both make a corned beef and pickle sandwich. The local Murco round here does them.

I don't understand your point.

Tongue is no different from other cold meats but you don't often see a tongue sandwich in M&S or Tesco.
