They seem to have no privacy. The newspapers seem to want the money shot.

"Now" following?

I wouldn't be surprised if Ali and Brian arranged to photographed for publicity.

This has been happening since Series 1 with Erin and Martin.

Brian's mum, on her blog, says he told her that the paps were running after them in the street. crazy!

Who else has done it from series 2 onwards?

I used to know a couple of the pros quite well. The whole approach to the programme changed in series 2, as it became a more serious competition and the working hours went through the roof.

From then onwards they didn't even have time to think about what they would eat for dinner, let alone plan a publicity campaign or agree to set up photos. They also found the fabricated stories in the paper annoying. They worked so hard to make their celebs improve that I genuinely don't think they would have wanted them to get through for any other reason apart from their routine. I can't imagine them ever wanting to bother with the fake publicity thing - or being media savvy enough to go for it.

For me the whole "doing it for PR" accusation is a myth. Most of the time newspapers have either completely exaggerated the bond that has formed (eg entire stories based around dance partners holding hands - really? Is that really meant to prove a relationship?) or something genuine has been there.

All of the couples get tactile and hug a lot - they are with each other 8-10 hours a day. The papers just choose to report on some of them, but not others and they really hound the couples they choose to report on. (I would bet my house on Kristina being less than pleased that paparazzi were camping outside her flat) I'm sure there are pictures of Darren and Lynda walking arm in arm, they just wouldn't hit the tabloids. All couples go for coffee, but it was more "newsworthy" with Brendan and Claire. I blame the papers rather than the couples for the "showmance" stories.

Agree with Erinfan.

Two years ago, there were complaints that Gethin and Katherine arranged for paps to take pictures of them strolling along London and dancing in the park. They were really a couple but people got cynical and said Gethin was trying to win votes this way. Just how to remained a mystery to me.

We have Anton and Kate at one point having intimate dinner for two and her getting frisky with Anton, according to some patrons of the restaurant (of course, the paps who booked a table in the restaurant were technically also patrons themselves!).

Let's not forget the tabloids suggesting that Mark Foster, who's gay as a picnic basket, was seen 'holidaying' in a yatcht or something with Christine Berkley, ignoring the fact that in one of the pictures, we clearly saw Ian (and allegedly Matthew Cutler) there too, implying they were an item.

Need I go on?

Have to say, that picture captured and published by The Sun was very gorgeous.

I think it is all rather cute and subtle, and I doubt that they are doing it all for the paps.

His Mum was quoted as saying that Brian had told her that the paps chase them down the street for pictures ....... if the paps want the picture, the paps will get it.

I'd be surprised if the affection they have for each other is anything but genuine. Brian doesn't seem the showy type, and has looked rather embarrassed about any mention of his growing admiration for his dance partner. I think their body language tells you everything.

True - in her blog she says "I caught up with Brian today [Sep 29]. He said that he never had such a whirlwind week in his life. He and Ali were in the papers every day, according to him, and the photographers actually chase them"

However as I posted somewhere else, I haven't seen a pap photo of them doing anything other then my Dad and I would do walking down the street - a peck on the cheek or an arm round the shoulder.

There's definitely mutual affection there. I hope there's more as I think they'd make a lovely couple, but there's nothing to prove it so far.

They are encouraging it. Look at the dirty dancing pictures they did. Ali also gave comments to someone else as well, can't remember who. Can't have it both ways. If they wind the paps up then they'll get whats coming to them.

That's why I don't believe anything is going on. If it were they'dbe far more careful.

I did think Brian asking Ali out before he had finished his professional job was an unprofessional thing to do, but I didn't expect him to be falling to Kristinas publicity hungry level - seems he is.

Nonsense. Last year, Tom and Camilla, Austin and Erin and Andrew and Ola posed for the DD 25th anniversary photoshoot. No one then hound them down the street after that now did they?

Based on that logic they should be pursuing the Craig / Alesha / Bruno love triangle story.

Add it it the articles they have done - the Brian asking Ali out comments and the sexy partner one (Ali). Also the papped balcony pictures - no need to act like that in such a place if you are avoiding publicity.

Not at all. However, if they are given an inch they will take a mile and anyone in that business knows that. They are playing with fire (which may work to their advantage on votes or future job ops) or may not work to their advantage (hassle of not being free anymore).

Maybe they should just have a bonk in a shop window so the mystery goes away. "Fortuna hits the jackpot" etc etc...

So? Surely they can be attracted to each other since they are young and single, no? Does that mean we want to see paps running after them taking pictures of them 'holding hands'?

Ricky said his partner is sexy too (in the interview VT week one) and Natalie made it clear to all (perhaps to the chagrin to many female viewers, thus calling her fake and smug) that Ricky is sexy more than once. Did they get the paps running after them then?

We have Vincent being protective and caring towards Natalie in the beginning, and then we have paps going after them saying Vincent is up to his naughty boy antics again. Thank goodness that one has died down. Were they asking for it for giving each other a hug and a peck on the cheeks on the streets?

I think they should boink in the the carpark, that makes it more sensational.

Looking at that picture from the Sun, that's not two people doing they can to kill rumours of a romance. I don't care either way, at least it's a positive story in the papers, unlike all the others. They aren't doing anyone else any harm and I'd guess for everyone voter it charms it will annoy another. They are only in trouble if one is interested and one is playing for the papers or if they are both really keen and then they fall out.
