Hear, hear!

Kind of makes you feel wistful too. That first series was so fabulous. A little more fun and with some grace and style than it's become now that the BBC have decided to make it just like any other reality show. And, of course, no Killer Killik: boy, do I miss him!

From the little I saw in youtube (not sure if it's still available), Killik's like the male version of Aliona, i.e. not choreographing to the strength (or limitations) of his celebs, so he'll rather dance around them (like the topless paso), or leave the celeb to her own device, (like Rhumba), with devastating results (i.e. the forever traumatising imaginery of Carol's expressions in the Rhumba).

Well you do yourself say that you only saw a little on Youtube which is one of the blights of modern society in my view! No-one holds a properly formed opinion because you see only tiny edited highlights. Paul is one of the greatest dancers/choreographers in the world which is why he has bases in several countries. The Paso is one of the best dances we've ever seen on SCD and, if you remember, Paul was very clear that he'd choreographed it that way because Verona had been unable (some would say unwilling!) to rehearse for more than a couple of hours that week. Yes, it showed nothing of her but there were reasons for it.

Okay then, explain his rhumba fiasco to me! I saw him using a one-metre ruler 'spanking' Carol and calling her sexy etc.. and then allowed her to utterly humiliate herself in front of millions on the actual night. That sure takes expertise!

Well done Natters. I'm glad her marriage is working out - I thought it was all very quick when she first got engaged to him.

Good thing she didn't put all her eggs in Brendan's basket. Allegedly.

I know you don't mean it to be so, but it somehow sounds a little rude.

Oh yeah, congrats to Natasha! Hope to see her among the audience again in this series.

Well I'm one of these that has watched every show since the very start (and many ITT's but not all).

I am no dancing expert (I'll make that clear) so it's all subjective amateur comments here, but I was not impressed with Paul during his period as a pro on Strictly. He may have wonderful credentials but he did not have the same skills that other pro's (Matthew, Darren, Vincent & co) have in supporting, nurturing and bringing out the best in their celebs. It is not just about the dance but also about building a relationship in my opinion, and then inspiring the celeb along the trip so they build up confidence (needed in many) to really let inhibitions go and get into dancing in a big way (aka Darren, Mark etc)

He was very dismissive of both Verona and Carol, with some very cutting remarks as I recall and sorry but I do recall (IMHO) that the vast majority of his routines were "Me, me, me"-ish rather than being more tuned to the celeb. Wasn't he the first pro to break the "no lifts" rule as I recall (could be wrong on this one)

He was just too competitive but without the humour to counteract it e.g. Brendon was (is) the same, but at least is able to laugh at himself on reflection. The "who is the best man" competition with Paul, John and Brendon was really off-putting for me, even way back in the beginning.

It would be interesting now for him to return and see what the judges' comment would be.

Congrats to Natasha.

I didn't think there was anyone quite as obnoxious as James Jordan ........ however I had forgotten Paul Killick.

Congratulations, Princess. I never expected it to happen so soon after Arlo but I know she loves being a mother. Very happy for her. I hope she has a girl.

First lady of Strictly ... love the title, OP!
