talkSPORT football commentator (and Sky Sports' voice of speedway) Nigel Pearson was a guest on Gold West Midlands nightly Sports Bar programme earlier this evening.

He was chatting to host Tom Ross in his capacity as the chairman of the Dudley Heathens speedway club, who are celebrating their recent election into the National League - the third tier of British speedway.

Don't think either Neil Reynolds or Darren Fletcher were involved in FLSE's coverage, although I'm just going by info posted elsewhere as I watched the match on BBC One (with the CBS commentary) and didn't listen, so I stand to be corrected.

Is poker a sport? I know a few people who consider it to be a sport these days, so I'll post this in here.

This weekend (Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th February), talkSPORT evening programme The Sports Bar came from The G Casino in Manchester to provide coverage of the PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour. Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy were presenting on both nights.

I didn't listen TBH although I don't think they did commentary - but nevertheless I thought it was a nice throwback to the first few years of talkSPORT when they would dedicate shows to some of the UK's more obscure sporting pastimes (which I can detail if anyone's interested).

It's not the first time talkSPORT have covered poker, either - way back in November 2000, they provided commentary on the inaugural Poker Million from the Hilton Hotel on the Isle of Man. Graham Beecroft, Derek Thompson and Andrew McKenna were there for talkSPORT then.
