Song Choices

Just wonder who picks them, because some are blooming awful choices, considering the dance. I'm thinking at the mo of Rav and Aliona's quickstep music (more appropriate for lindyhop) and Zoe's Paso music which just seemed really inappropriate.

Also, anyone got any really got suggestions out there for songs you'd like to see them dance to....

I've seen contradictory things on ITT...

One was that the BBC gives the pros a list to choose from for each dance (probably because of copyright issues) and the other was that the pros chose the music themselves with no restraints. Either way, I'm pretty sure it's the pros final decision!

That's what makes Aliona's choice especially all the worse! I cringed the whole way through!

And James and Zoe's song? I sing that in church on a sunday morning! That does not strike me as paso doble music!

I'd love for someone, really good but not Ricky W, to dance to Use Somebody even though the pros did on the first episode - spine chills

Ooo good choice! And i'm not a KoL fan at all, but can see a few dances that would work to.

The music from 'Grease' used for Ravs quickstep (We go together) was a complete disaster! What were they thinking? A quickstep just cries out for a nice bit of classic swing music, or a least something from an old hollywood dance musical.

A few suggestions:

Visage - Fade to grey (Tango)

Kevin Lyttle - Turn me on (Samba)

Pink - Like a pill (Paso)

Ennio Morricone - Chi Mai (Rhumba)

La Roux - I'm not your Toy (Cha Cha)

There was an ITT article last year on Camilla and Tom's tango and it showed Camilla opening an envelope for her chosen music. So either she supplied a short list and teh BBC chose one or the pro has no choice over the music given them.

Don't know if this will help, it might make things more confused.

Someone posted on the BBC boards that a friend of their's was a pupil of Ian's, apparently the pros submit a list of music choices for the whole series, producers either accept or reject them and in the case of rejection suggest an alternative. There usually is only one couple who uses "authentic music" all others have to use pop/chart tracks.
