Manual Tuning on Humax 9150 which post to read?
Hi,
Am sure this has been covered somewhere as I think I read about it in passing in the freeview retune posts. My brand new 9150 has found Look North's BBC1 when I live slap bang in the middle of the East Midlands region (well slightly to the north if anything but certainly had no problems recieving EMT on my old sagem box and have it on my freeview panasonic) Can anyone point me towards a definitive post on how to manual tune to the correct transmitter? beings as I work on East Midlands Today its odd not being able to watch it..

Humax retune guide (and other makes) can be downloaded from tvretune.co.uk
http://www.tvretune.co.uk/productmanuals/ but when your box asks you if it can Autosan SELECT NO and do a manual scan instead For the manual element of this Tvretune.co.uk have a generic (I.e. not just for Humax) guide with nice details and pictures about how to find the 6 UHF frequencies you need. http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache...&ct=clnk&gl=uk (That is the HTML version of http://www.tvretune.co.uk/uploads/pd..._factsheet.pdf but the pdf address does not appear to be working this week) |

To retune to the correct transmiter an Autoscan alone will not do it. The existing channels have to be deleted first. Either a) as explained in Humax's own retune guide (but if a manual retune is required stopping the process when it reaches the Autoscan) or b) by going into 'Edit Channels' selecting all TV channels and deleting them and then selecting all Radio channels and deleting them. |

Menu > Edit Channels > Edit Channel Lists > Password (0000) and delete all TV channels, note there is a Select All button. Go to Group, select Radio and delete all the radio channels. Press Exit on the remote control and when invited save all the changes. You will now get a message saying No channels are available……, press OK. You should now be taken to the Installation menu, choose Manual Search. Select the first UHF channel number obtained from the DTG web-site for Channel (actually the order doesn’t matter) and press Search. When the search completes, Save. Select the next UHF channel number for Channel and press Search.....Save. Repeat this for all six UHF channel numbers and to finish press the Exit button. You will now find all your Freeview channels on their correct numbers with none in the 800 range. Good luck. |

without dragging this one out it wasn't something I'd even thought about until it disappeared! - particularly as we have a new baby and had been glancing at the clock to time feeds, ah well will have to do it another way...

Google brings this post up on a search of Humax Manual Tune so at risk of resurrecting a thread I'm posting this key link that should help people asking the above type of question:

http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/postcodec...anual_retuning Here is an updated version of my instructions posted earlier in this thread. The reason for doing a Manual Search is to target the six (five after DSO) multiplexes coming only from your preferred transmitter. The UHF channel numbers for your six/five multiplexes (digital channels) from your preferred transmitter can be obtained from the digitaluk web-site, enter your post code and also tick the "I am in the aerial installation trade" box. Your UHF channel numbers are in the grey columns in the Coverage prediction section. The compass bearing for the available transmitters at your address are also shown so you can check to see which transmitter your aerial is actually pointing at. You should only use the transmitter that your aerial is pointing at. First you need to delete all existing channels. Interesting. Now, if you email Humax you'll be advised to in effect do the same thing - by doing Installation > Default Setting... with the Aerial unplugged. I was a bit concerned this might delete the programmes in the hard drive but am assured it will not. The digital uk link does give a very nice step by step instruction, based on your personal postcode, once the old channels have been deleted.

A Default Setting will not affect the recordings on your hard disk and will not affect the software version. |

Well Big-les the retune worked perfectly following the delete instructions from you and the tuning instructions from digital-uk.
Seems that my Hummy was tuning to a poor Crystal Palace signal by default when the Hannington one had the perfect signal. Interestingly, a recent Sony Freeview TV I purchased used a postcode to do the auto tune and got the correct channels first time (this is what led me to suspect the Hummy's only fault was incorrect channel settings). So for future Hummy products I'd expect the postcode system to be it its Freeview offerings! |

This worked for me using the local Bluebell hill channels, 46 43 40+ 45 39+ 54 ( I couldn't figure out how to get the + so I just used 40 and 39 and that seemed fine ) All except 40+ came back with 95 tv and 24 radio found, for some reason 40+ came back with nothing. I set the network tune to enabled but I have no idea if that made a difference.
This worked for me and I now have no channels in the 800's and the recordings are so far much better quality and channels are where I expect to find them, I also use a laptop and kaffiene to record freeview and with this I can select my local transmitter from a list, this would be a good feature to be included in new software updates. Hope these posts help any body else with this problem as I was about ready to bin the box. Thanks to all who posted tips for this problem. |

The reason that 40 was not recognised is because it is the HD Mux and your box only supports SD. No transmitters have more than 5 SD Mux.

Network Search should be OFF if you're following my Manual Search instructions.
But, if in doubt, follow the Manual Search instructions as given. |

Although if you're really lazy (like me) you can do a manual tune with network search - for example from Waltham do that on channel 49 and you automagically get the full set of Waltham SD channels. (Other starting channels are available and usual cop-out clauses...)
But, if in doubt, follow the Manual Search instructions as given. |

Where I live I'm in range of both Waltham and Kimberley (Nottingham). I've tried Network Search several times and on occasion (but by no means all of the time) I've ended up with a combination of both transmitters so I avoid mentioning Network Search unless the subject crops up, like now.
Ignore my previous post! |
