Ok, so I first texted to change to this tariff on the 21st Sept. I got a text saying the new tariff would begin on the 21st Oct (my new anniversary date).

2 days ago however, I came across a thread on o2 forums saying how you did not need to wait until your next anniversary date in order to begin using the new tariff. Apparently, you could just ring o2 and they would change it manually within 24/48 hours.

So I rang o2 customer services and they said that they would switch it over manually and the new tariff would begin within 24 hours or whatever. I thought oh great.

I got a text today saying "Thanks for getting in touch. The good news is you're already on Text and Web. Remember to top up to keep getting your free allowance."

But I haven't switched already, I am still on o2 unlimited, I'm still getting calls to o2 for free and am still getting charged for texts to non-o2 numbers!!

Does that text from o2 today just mean that I still need to wait until 21st Oct? Or if I top up now my new tariff will begin and I will get a new anniversary date (today)??

Please help me asap! Thanks in advance for any help or contribution.

When I text to change from Text Anytime end of September I was told I would change to Text and Web on my anniversary date that was always 5th October so on 3rd October I toped up £15 like I always do every month. On 5th October I changed to Text and Web like 02 said they would.
Im gusses you may have to wait till your anniversary date before you move tariff and as long as you have toped up at lest £15 by then.

This has put my mind to rest somewhat.

I text to switch to 02 text and web at the end of September as well but my anniversary date was the 3rd of October.

Unfortunately it didn't all process till after my last anniversary date so I now have to wait until 3rd November.

The thought was, if this all goes belly up on 3rd November I can kiss goodbye to the £15 a month offer.

This has eased my fears somewhat. Thanks Ney.

When I text in to change to it I got a reply saying I'd be changed to it on my next anniversary date or within 72 hours. So I left it for 3 days, topped up and all is fine.

This was the confusing part for me:

"On your next anniversary date or the next 72 hours" I thought it would overwrite my current tariff text anytime after 3-4 days (72 hours as mentioned) but as my text anytime is currently active it must switch on the next anniversary date as my text and web wasn't set up in time to change over at the start of this month.

I have unlimited texts for the month and a weeks free wap so I don't mind waiting for my text and web to activate the start of next month, any problems then with the switch or inclusive allowance and I'll be onto 02. I should get the introductory offer though as I opted in end of September.

Glad I could help. Hope you do get the 02 introductory offer. That was one of the reasons I switched from text anytime to text and web at the end of September so I could get the 02 introductory offer. Mobile internet can be handy in the winter months for looking up the latest weather forecast if you are out. Even if it is 02 Active and a cut down verson of the internet on my Sony W302. Untill now I had only used mobile internet a very odd once in a while.

I bought a new mobile phone and sim card with O2. I would like to change over to text and web because I think I am on a default tariff. How would I go about changing it over?

Phone 2202 from your 02 mobile and it will tell you what tariff you are on and you can change tariff from there.

Thanks, when I call the number it says customers can benefit from a range of different tariffs and that i'm missing out.

Out of the 6 tariffs I think i'd either go for the unlimited text and web or the text and call. I don't know which one is best really.

If I went for the unlimited text and web what does the unlimited web include?

Text the word "balance" to 20202. It will then say what package you are on and the amount you have left.

Mine says as an example:-

TEXT AND WEB FREE MONTHLY ALLOWANCE - 11983 messaging units & 490.9 MB left which will expire on 01 Nov.

500mb of web a month and 12000 text a month you get with text and web if you top up at lest £15 a month. You have to ask to join the text and web offer before the 31st of October to get the £15 a month unlimited offer.
My TEXT AND WEB FREE MONTHLY ALLOWANCE so for says 11972 messaging units & 498.9 MB left which will expire on 5th November.

I texted it but it says I don't have a bolt on so they cannot provide a balance.

If you want to change tariff as I told you above phone the number that you did.
Also if you sign up to the 02 website www.02.co.uk then goto my 02 you can look at your call balance and what tariff you are on. Im lucky if I send between 100-300 text in a month. I never get anywhere near the 12000 monthly text limit.
On the old text anytime tariff I started toping up £15 a month to get 500 free monthly text as I went over my 300 free monthly text durning last years Christmas holiday fortnight. I think that was the only time I went over my 300 free monthly text.

I have also signed up for text and web , not to bad a deal for £15 considering if you just top up a tenner you get 300 texts.
Mines will changed over on the 27th of this month, so i'll top up next week and that should set it up to start.

So basically if I top up now then I will get a month of unlimited text and web starting from my anniversary date which is 21st October? I won't get the text and web before that date?

I don't mind waiting, I'm just trying to get this clear.

It's to other networks too.

Text and Web introductory offer gives you either:

1. Unlimited inclusive UK texts provided you have topped-up between £10 and £14 in the previous month; or
2. Unlimited inclusive UK texts and an inclusive Unlimited Web Bolt On provided you have topped-up £15 or more in the previous month.

Correct, providing you top up the necessary amount to activate the allowance.

500mb a month is like using web on your mobile for about an hour a day for a month.
