Me too.

But then I also love Chris Moyles, so I appreciate that my taste may not be that popular.

I also think he may have some rhythm in there somwhere.

He paints a nice image though:

"The dad-of-two revealed that the household go mad whenever Strictly Come Dancing is shown. "(It's) absolute madness. I watch every show with (daughter) Phoebe," he added. "She has to wear her princess dress, she makes me wear my suit and we dance around the living room."

Makes me feel quite sad reading that - it's what the show should be about, instead of all the hysterical abuse that flies around on here and elsewhere.

OK, you've shamed me into revealing my true colours: I like Bruce, Tess, Claudia and all of the judges, and really enjoy watching the show. I know I'll probably be tarred and feathered for saying it, but what the hell.

I hope he's just trying to promote the family value-ness of watching strictly, and saying he'll join SCD in a jest!

Can you imagine how cringe worthy after he's danced (presumbly rhumba with his pro partner) and then has to face Tess later?!

My 10 year old son and I do the same. We love to tango around the living room, maybe we should do the whole dressing up thing too? Do you think Phoebe would lend me her dress?

For all the abuse that Tess and Vernon get, I do think they seem like fantastic parents, really down to earth with their priorities in the right place.

They may be great parents and decent couple generally (they look good together - like models in a catalogue), but to have a HUSBAND as the celeb frolicking with a pro partner and then 'bantering' with his WIFE in the show just seems so... WRONG?!

The reason I love Vernon is that he's not "cool". He does everything with so much enthusiasm, really appreciates what he has and doesn't take himself too seriously and in the days of Bono, I find that really refreshing.

His tweets on twitter are hilarious.

Forget the rhythm, what about the cracking bod he's got in there somewhere

I think it would be fantastic, I could imagine Tess walloping Vernon for enjoying the rhumba too much or them not talking cos she's jealous that he's getting too close to his partner, or her dropping really embarrasing secrets about his jock strap or whatever.

Also the comedy value of Vernon having to dance with Lilia or Ola would be worth the license fee alone.

But maybe I can appreciate the thought more because I don't really care that much about the dancing. I don't dance, I'm not interested in learning and I watch the show for the personalities and watching them grow rather than whether the hip action comes from their upper body or because they drive through their feet.

Did you see him in lycra abseiling down the side of Twickenham for Comic Relief? I really don't think he has, his legs are too long and he's incredibly skinny, not muscular enough for me, I'm afraid, but he has got a really nice face.

I could just about cope with him as a celeb contestant but definitely not as a presenter.

Thank god it's not just me. Honestly, the sleepless nights, the cold sweats, not being able to look people in the eye, it's been terrible....

I missed that

He's got lovely shoulders though

Anyway, I still think it would be great to see him on Strictly.

I think Vernon might be good on scd. He has a good build, which always helps, and lots of personality.

So, he'd have to dance a romantic rumba (rumba doesn't have to be sexy!) and then get interviewed by his wife, but the 'romance' is only part of the act, and I'm sure Tess could handle it. And the possibility of the husband-wife banter and teasing could be fun.

Doh! Don't suggest even that! Now that Anton's future as a Brucie replacement is in question you might have given BBC the idea!!!

I'm just interested hun, why do you dislike him so much? Chris Moyles, I can understand, because he makes his living being obnoxious, but being mean about Vernon is like kicking a puppy.

I got worried when I saw the title of this thread, I thought you meant Vernon Troya! Hm... silly me.

Actually, I find him quite harmless. But I can't imagine the cheesiness the show would become with Tess' overacting antics plus her husband's 'puppy-dog' energy, and then seeing their nanny/granny and their children in the audience watching them banter.

It's just wrong, somehow.

Yes - bring him on - he would be brilliant as a contestant - PROVIDING it means we can lose Terrible Tess!!

As long as its dancing and not presenting I could live with it.......have Tess as a contestant as well and then they could both be in the dance off first week.

Actually, I don't mind having Vernon replacing Tess as the co-presenter!

I recalled they had two male presenters in DWTS when that insufferable woman presenter (she wasn't anywhere like Tess but more like a complete one-dimensional bore). He was the winner of the second series of DWTS. And somehow it worked. But then they reverted back to that woman again after that.

Now see, after the boring, inane, listless, blah-blah-blah drivel coming out of the mouths of this lot, I dream of a day when someone would actually throw themselves wholeheartedly into the show. They wouldn't spend the whole time moaning about how hard it is, how I was better in rehearsal, how the nerves are crippling me and would actually have some FUN. Remember that, Strictly used to be FUN, contestants used to actually enjoy themselves .

Also, Phil apart, there is very little personality in this bunch and Phil is in pain, so he's obviously not as bantering/funny as normal.

I would love Vernon getting into trouble because he would constantly take the mickey out of Tess, she'd thump him, everyone else would laugh, it would really help to bond the contestants, I think.

He also seems very engaging, people seem to love him. He seems to have a very easygoing manner, doesn't get too precious about stuff.

My party political broadcast for Vernon is now over.
