I recalled they had two male presenters in DWTS when that insufferable woman presenter (she wasn't anywhere like Tess but more like a complete one-dimensional bore). He was the winner of the second series of DWTS. And somehow it worked. But then they reverted back to that woman again after that.”

He was Jessica Simpson's brother-in-law Drew Lachey, I thought he was really good and I would have much preferred that they had got Alesha to replace Tess than be a judge.

Remember that, Strictly used to be FUN, contestants used to actually enjoy themselves .

Also, Phil apart, there is very little personality in this bunch and Phil is in pain, so he's obviously not as bantering/funny as normal.

I would love Vernon getting into trouble because he would constantly take the mickey out of Tess, she'd thump him, everyone else would laugh, it would really help to bond the contestants, I think.

He also seems very engaging, people seem to love him. He seems to have a very easygoing manner, doesn't get too precious about stuff.

My party political broadcast for Vernon is now over. ”

I remembered a few years ago before Strictly they had an Elvis Freak Show where they invited many Elvis impersonators on the show with three judges (one was Craig Ravel Horwood if I wasn't mistaken). He was quite annoying in there.

And there was a spin-off show with him and Tess fronting a singing version of Strictly, calling it ITT, I think. Their chemistry, if they have one in real life, didn't translate in the show. It was quite boring seeing them together.

Or maybe I was just the minority. I can just about take them one at a time, not two together. I had seen them presenting together, and it just didn't work...

I don' t think you're in the minority hun, I think I am.

But the main difference is that they wouldn't be presenting together. He's a contestant, not a presenter, so I think that's a subtle but huge difference.

His presenting skills would mean, that for me, he would be more relaxed than most contestants usually are. He's used to live tv.

He also wouldn't be overawed by the presenters, judges or the show itself.

I think it would either be car crash tv or absolutely brilliant, but either way, watchable. I'm just looking at it as breathing a little life into what has been a very stale series for me so far. The BBC has to take on board that the personality of the dancer is just as important as their dance skilly and picking a bunch of shy/nervous/cacking it celebs does not make for good tv.

I don't swear. I hate swearing. I never swear.

But having read this thread-title I f@*@ing f£$£ing f&*&ing well WILL f!@!ing swear.

Vernon. Vernon and Tess. Could solve the NHS's spending problems. Would reduce the population by about half (suicides and emigration).

There's been loads of talk about how Strictly is a family show and how the whole family are coming together young and old the length and breadth of the country to watch it all together.

Yet they schedule it to finish at nine o'clock. My six year old daughter loves it but she needs to be in bed long before nine.

Thank goodness for I player.

Was it that obvious?

I didn't know you were meant to like them. Aren't they just Comedy Northerners?

Except they're not witty or amusing...
