How much is your weekly shop?
I still live with mum at the moment but planning on moving out in the new year. My question is how much does everybody spend on their weekly shop? There are 4 in my house and my mum says she spends a whopping £200 a week! I did a little research and found that I could probably feed the same on about £100. This is of course without luxuries and im including toilet roll, dishwasher tabs etc.

we don't have a dishwasher. And I buy own brand toilet roll (I find Asda's really thick in comparison to Tesco and softer too), and I buy Asda own brand tin tomatoes and frozen veg. Everything else tends to be brand name and for 2 of us £70 for about 10days. But we are trying to make what we can out of the stuff we have in the cupboard at the moment to cut back on spending so much.
I think if you plan your meals it works out cheaper but I don't ever fancy what I have planned so now resort to buying chicken, mince and prawns for oh. Fajitas, potatoes, pasta and rice and work around that for a week. |

I shop at Asda too and buy their own brand stuff MOSTLY, but there are 7 of us in this house and my shopping bill is usually just over £100, more if I include clothes etc. But the grocery shop usually about a hundred.

We don't do a weekly shop as such!!!
But it depends on your budget! When we have cash we go to Waitrose and other times we go to Morrison's. When you first move in budget for a big shop as you will need all your cupboard staples (sauces, condiments, dried herbs, spices, oils, tinned goods, pastas and rices - things that keep and things that you don't have to replace every week) Also budget for things like washing powder, cleaning products - again you wont need ot buy them every week. If money is tight then make yourself a meal plan every week and shop for this. Have a look around for offers etc.. You'll be fine!! |

Around £15 to £20. I'm a student though so have to save a bit! It's also kind of for two as the boyfriend and I share a lot of meals.
In first year I used to spent around £12 on average. I have a job now so can afford to go crazy

![]() I love Sainsburys but they don't do enough cheap stuff and to me Waitrose is just too much. |

Just the two of us, and including all the household products, stuff for the dishwasher and some wine we average about £120 a week. We do eat meat a lot, and will only buy free range/organic meat so that pushes the prices right up.

Main weekly shop is usually around £90 for 4 of us at Asda, plus up to a tenner through the week too. That's for everything.

£50 - £60 for 2 of us and then things like milk and extra fruit/salad during the week. Every 3 months or so we go to Costco and stock up on washing powder, mince, washing up liquid, bleach, toilet rolls, razor blades etc and this usually costs another £80 or so

Around £50 a week for 3 of us, though a bit more if you add the top-up shopping during the week (fresh milk, bread, etc.)

I shop mainly at Sainsbury's, through convenience rather than choice.
I get through about £170-£200 a week,for 4 people. |

Used to be about £75. Nearer £120 now we have mini-minks.
![]() ![]() As Rainbow said, definitely budget for an initial big shop to kit out your larder as it were. |
