That offer seems too good to be true. It may not be what you expect!

If you do a search on the forum for "phantom pvr" you get quite a few results. Basically it is a device that detects a signal put out by the satellite box when a particular programme has been marked in the planner. It sends an IR code to the VCR to start it recording. That seems to be all it does. It automates the recording, so you don't have to set the timer on the VCR, just on the satellite box.

No. It will not do anything that you can't do already, it just automates the process. Since most satellite boxes only have one tuner, they can only do one thing at a time.
The advertising is a little bit misleading. What they mean by "allows you to record multiple channels" is that you can switch the satellite box to a different channel when the first recording has finished so a second recording can begin. AFAIK the only satellite box that has 2 tuners, so allowing you to watch one channel and record another (or record 2 at the same time) is Sky+. The Pace PVR may do as well, but I am not sure about it's satellite capabilities. Cheers |
