Hello,

I'm gutted - I've started to get into ITT this week, have tried to tune in tonight and..... no ITT tonight here in Scotland - we've got the Gaelic programmes instead.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm normally all for the Gaelic programming. But Strictly is supposed to be the BBC's flagship programme (for the whole of the UK, I'd hope), and up here in Ecosse on BBC 2 we have Gaelic youth programmes instead.

I believe this is the usual slot for the Gaelic stuff, but could it not be moved for the duration of Strictly so that we don't have to miss out on ITT? They could put it on at 7pm, after ITT is finished.

I have Freewview, by the way, not Sky - I remember from my old Sky days that you could flip over to BBC Northern Ireland or whatever part of England and get the normal programming, but not apparently on Freeview.

Rant over, sorry!

Just added my complaints to the ITT thread here and on the BBC forums.

Do you suppose some Gaelic speaker has chewed through the wires at BBC HQ to deny us?

Could it be a relation of those shiny happy teenagers currently updating the Hebridean Weaving Songs???

There are Gaelic speakers in my family - they married in - and these big hairy Highlands would rather see Ola in sequins than hear their 'mother tongue'.

You don't suppose it is another case of SCD 'racism' do you?

You can usually get it on the red button but it's not working for me this week

I am glad I am not alone in this, but it really pees me off.

No doubt someone will apologise but after reluctantly giving into our wishes last year, the BBC in Scotland are not exactly showing committment.

Or do they think we will stick with the Gaelic programme and find a desire to learn a language this winter?

Thanks, guys, for your replies! Glad I'm not the only one who is p'd off!

I did try the red button but also found that it's not happening - it's all news feeds and Tory Party Conference stuff.

It just seems that, in the BBC's haste to have inclusive thing going on (i.e. prioritising Gaelic programming), they have just excluded a significant segment of their Strictly audience - and like I said, Strictly is meant to be their flagship programme.

I appreciate that not all SCD fans will watch ITT, but still......

It always seemed to be that the couple I particularly wanted to see would be appearing on the Thursday. Kenny Logan nearly always seem to be announced as the forthcoming guest at the close of the Wednesday episode.

Of course, I can catch it on-line, but what about the many who cannot?

Indeed, I think it's terrible that they've done this. There is no earthly reason that they couldn't put the Gaelic programming on a bit later for a few months.

I can understand why you - and others in Scotland - are annoyed. Surely the bbc could find a slot for ITT every night? Even if they had to resort to using very late at night, those who wanted to see it could record it and watch it at a sensible time the next day. Not ideal perhaps, if you want to see the show live, but better than missing it altogether.

Is this only a problem in Scotland, or are other areas affected by this as well?

It's lovely to have support from people outwith Scotland too - thanks!

Yes, even if they had made alternative arrangements that would have gone a way to making us feel a bit better about it. I'd have happily recorded it if it was on late at night and watched it tomorrow.

I just got my OH to check and there's defo no repeat on Freeview anyway.

It was the same for me in series 4 when Matt and Lilia always seemed to be on on the Thursday (this was pre IPlayer too)

If my listings is correct, tomorrows 6pm episode of Eggheads is a repeat.......if that is the case, any chance of letting us see Thursdays ITT before Fridays, BBC 2 Scotland????

The red button was working last week, but rather than just hit the red button, I went through the list of channels in Freeview. Since it retuned recently, I have 2 red button channels somewhere near the bottom of the list and it was on one of those. I can't remember the channel numbers as I am not at home at the moment.

I was out last night though, so not sure if it was on one of those channels or if we have been pushed aside this week for the Tory Conference...

Do you have any way of getting any other BBC regional variations which might show it? I know satellite boxes can often do this, but of course if you're not using satellite that's not going to help...

It's OK to rant about this - I have in the past! What is especially annoying about the Thursday night Gaelic-fest on BBC2 NOW is that the BBC have spent countless £££ on launching a dedicated Gaelic channel! I am not anti-Gaelic or anything and if there are a few programs in Gaelic - that is not a problem - (culture & all that!LOL), but the as stated, SCD is flagship program and for lots of the viewers ITT is very important!

I have used the BBC complaints webpages to ask what happened to ITT on the 8th of October in the hope of gaining assurance that this was a one off error - and not a return to the previous "Gaelic or Nothing" BBC 2 Scotland attitude.

I will let you know when I receive a reply.

If you never hear from me again you will know I have been taken against my will to the isle of Harris to work at a loom whilst singing Weaving Songs in Gaelic.

Just popping on to say we watch ITT every night, Thursday included, and we have Freeview not Sky. Not sure how it works, but we just whizz through the remote control until you get to a different BBC region. To do this, when we set our system up, we put in our old English address even though we are in Aberdeen, and that way you're not forced to watch STV all the time, and you can see any region BBC programme you like.

That's the same kind of idea I was suggesting earlier but with satellite TV. Bit of a pain, but it works.

Not sure at what point you are asked for an address????

If I though I could put a town in England into the system and get Midsommer etc I would dance around my loom singing Gaelic Weaving Songs at full volume!!!

(Better get back to my tweed, here comes Morag, the supervisor. 95 words per minute in Gaelic.... )

The comment below appeared on the BBC POV thread on the theme of ITT in Scotland;

QUOTE "Last Thursday's ITT listing in Scotland's Radio Times mentioned that it was available via the red button. However, last night's listing makes no mention of it, nor does next week's. Looks like we're being left in limbo again." QUOTE

If accurate, it seems we are being abandoned again!!!!

Yeah, there was definitely no SCD ITT on my red button, as I said above it was all news and Tory Party conference stuff.

Maybe next week when the Tory Conference is over ITT will be back there.....?

EDIT: just re-read your quote and see next week makes no mention either
