1st October - Still no (meaningful) firmware update!!
Someone had to do it, and I did. Stuff Humax, their platform support is awful. I wish I had never bought a HDR!

![]() I dont like the deletion issue but I can live with that. I had to ring Humax support in the first week of ownership.They were extremely helpful. Operator error as it turned out ![]() I dont regret acquiring it at all.

I am very happy with my Humax HDR. I think there is an update mania these days. If it works well why change it? We all know that there is a major update forthcoming for the iplayer but that is dependent on Freesat not Humax.

There is a very long list of bugs that need fixing and an update has been promised for a very long time. Having said that I think as we now know that the bug fix update is delayed until the iplayer is ready these 1st of the month threads are past their sell-by date. |

I think the OP is possibly laying it on a bit too strongly - the box has some major faults - yes - and Humax support is rubbish, but I don't at the end of the day regret buying it. What I have done is learnt to live with its ways and to avoid upsetting it.. I'm simply hanging on until the update..

They can't promote this technology to sell a product and then quietly forget about it when their R&D department invent their next toy that they want us to pay for to beta test for them. With all the Freeview experience, it would have been reasonable to assume that their freesat boxes would be relatively bug free. I've got a 9200T and the FoxSat HDR and I can say without any shadow of doubt that my next box will definitely NOT be a Humax. John. |

Wiping the ITV HD schedules after a rescan is a major fault, particularly as it can do an 'invisible' rescan if you leave the box to boot up and don't come back for a few minutes. People need to realise that just because a major fault does not affect them does not mean it isn't a serious issue to someone else. |

As you say, "each to their own".
I agree that some faults might be considered minor but you have to wonder how something as simple as it often needing two button-presses to get it out of standby could be missed - something a user becomes aware of within minutes! Minor yes but perhaps indicative of a sloppy unprofessional approach to their testing.... and it shows. John. |

Again if the case did they appoligise for their poor programming skills and then we can ask why 10 months later they have not fixed that bodge? The polarisation of opinion here does surprise me. I suppose some people are never satisfied.
I got mine early on (Christmas Eve 2008 when it arrived!), and I have generally been satisfied with its performance. I've had several lockups, which is highly irritating, and several no-records or faulty records (Film4 was bad for this for a while). Like any bit of tech kit, I've got used to its UI quirks, and I've also successfully upgraded it with a 1TB disk (WD10EVDS). On balance it has met my requirements and I'm very satisfied. If the forthcoming software update eliminates the lockups then I shall be a very happy bunny. |

There's no need to be offensive.There are serious issues with this box that have not yet been addressed. If those features affect someone badly then they are likely to be dissatisfied. Why is it always people who don't have problems (or don't care about them) who have to become offensive about those who do? It was a genuine operator(Mine) error that I rang about.. Incorrect connection as it happens. The manual was clear. Humax support talked me through my problem. I stand by my original statement. "I am very happy with my Humax HDR" Others may not be. Fine we all have different opinions. As for the manual, hardly any modern manuals cover products properly. The computer I am typing this on has a very poor manual.For example the same applies to Apple I-Pods. You have to download full manuals. Others do not even provide that service. Humax are no different from other manufacturers. |

About 3 times a week i turn on the tv only to see a still picture and have to unplug the foxsat. Its very bad form. I miss so many recordings doing this. I wouldnt buy another humax at all. I think its just poor support and poor quality control. If people acceot these low standards then thats what they'll get forever. |

If there were no faults, and people were demanding constant updates, then I could agree with you about people never being satisfied. But there are faults, and NOBODY is denying that. We might have different views about how serious they are, but they still exist. It's not unreasonable, given how long it's been, to expect to have received an update for the most serious issues - even if they were bodge fixes, like forcing the box to power on when initially supplied with electricity and being able to set the default behaviour to not scan for channels when there is an EPG update. |
