Yes I had seen that post but have any digitalspy members actually got a version of it on their box?

Pretty pictures please

Good to see there is at least one item regarding the interchange between freesat and non-freesat in the list. Are there details of other non-freesat items they have addressed in particular
- whether you can set a timer recording for a non-freesat channel?
- is there an easier switching method between freesat and non-freesat modes?

btw the list I am refering to is the pvrjunction one

I lost everything that was recorded when the disk filled up, I call that a fairly major fault Searching on this/other forums seems to indicate that's a known problem can happen due to the ext3 filesystem being fragile? What??? Now I have a 1TB drive installed and hopefully that won't happen again...

Another 24hrs or so and it will be time for a new thread as yet another month has gone by with no update.

Looking back into the past my first box arrived on Monday 24th November 2008, 7.00am - 6.00pm

So it is nearly a year old.

Not really a lot of point as we now know that we won't be getting the update until some time after the iplayer starts testing.

Completely shoddy behaviour on the part of Humax, true, but there's really no point in starting a new thread.

The new firmware can be set to delete the oldest files automatically when space is required to avoid this problem

I have a 500GB external HDD perm. attached to my HDR and as soon as it reaches 85% i copy programs to that. HD programs fill up the box quite quickly so it doesn't take that much to fill it up.

It is very poor. I can understand the cost effectiveness of linking the Iplayer to the OTA upgrade but what I can't agree with is there being zero upgrades even online.

When you look at how big Humax are with offices etc all over the globe and goodness knows how many employees - and they won't put anything on the web for our machine??!! : I am frankly amazed to have to wait so long... on the other hand this long delay might mean the more goodies there might be in the new firmware... at least I really hope so... apart from the fixes mentioned, It would be lovely to have full buffer recording and FTP.

It might be nice if we could have a poll thread about how many of will or could use the iplayer on their freesat box?

1. Yes my box is connected to my broadband network and I can't wait to try it.

2. No network connection near my box and I don't want to spend anymore cash installing (by wireless gadget, mains gadget or cable).

3. I will install a network connection for iplayer support to my box.

4. I have iplayer installed on a computer and am quite happy with that solution as it lets me save the programs.

5. Not really interested in iplayer support as it only has BBC programs. If all freesat channels maybe.

Just an idea to pass the time when you were going to watch a program your box forgot to record

I'm not sure I would use iPlayer. I certainly don't now as I tend to record most things I want to watch.

I just want the rest of the promised updates. I was one of the very first to get the box and have been very patient and supportive of Humax and Bob_cat but now I am getting a little dismayed at the lack of update and information about it's appearance.

I completely agree. I'm so fed up with not being able to delete stuff when I want to. If the iplayer stuff is not yet tested properly but the important stuff is (don't care about iplayer on the HDR) then why not simply tweak the firmware to disable iplayer and release it? That surely cannot be difficult. The iplayer release can simply follow. Plus I read a post this week saying that there are going to be delays due to the BBC I believe so it looks as though the firmware might be even further delayed than it would have been. Does anyone else agree? What about it Humax?

Incidentally, I will repeat a useful tip for people in case they don't know. You cannot delete a file while a recording is taking place but you can rename a file. If you rename the file to DEL1, DEL2, etc. you can simply delete all of these in one hit when you are able. The great thing about this is that even if you rename a file that is in a folder, it gets moved out to the root level when you do the rename so they are all in the one place ready for the delete.

The forum software needs an update.

Apparently Digital Spy have ordered one from Humax.

To be fair, I think they said the update would come in the autumn- it is autumn now and still will be until December 21st.

Stop whinging, you didn't by the box with an promise of an upgrade. OK, a mention of an upgrade was made some time ago by someone you purported to work for Humax but that was not part of your guarantee. If an upgrade comes, rejoice, otherwise, just keep quiet.

It would appear, from previous input, that issues are so enormous that a call for a public enquiry or a change of government is necessary.

However, I’m happy to wait for an upgrade, if one comes, as I don’t seem to be affected by the malaise others report.
Automan

I don't really need an upgrade just the basic shortfalls in the original firmware corrected in a reasonable timeframe.

I and many other I suspect could not care a hoot about the iplayer upgrade.

I won't be interested in the slightest, unless the quality is at least as good as an SD broadcast.

If we are forced to stream iPlayer live (i.e. if we can't record programmes via iPlayer to watch later), I can't see the quality being remotely close to an SD broadcast, so I won't even bother testing it.

Regardless of iPlayer, I'll be happy just to be able to delete programmes whilst the box is recording.

Why don't YOU keep quiet?

You say at the end of your post that you aren't affected by what others are reporting. Perhaps if you was, you would like to complain about how long we have had to wait too, along with the other people who do have issues with the present firmware. Don't be so ignorant. If people are having problems, they have every right to post their feelings and complaints on this forum- that's why this forum exists.

Yes, we didn't buy the box with a promise of an upgrade- but we did expect it to work well, and for any deficiencies to be ironed out with updates in time. That time is taking far too long just because of some stupid idea to incorporate iPlayer when no-one even wants it.

OK, you’re right, I might have gone too far but I get a little peeved with the continuous “Humax are useless”, “where’s my upgrade”, posts

Some people go on and on and on, surely one complaint is enough? It seems that any comment, e.g. ‘the weather’s fine today’, will be greeted with “where’s my upgrade

And, I for one WANT iPlayer!!!!

Other people, myself included, also get peeved with the knee jerk "my HUMAX is great" posts..

Although some people might not think the HUMAX is cumulatively seriously flawed. It is.

It should never have been released to market in the state that it was... and in this "on and on" post - I feel the onus is on Humax to produce a fix for the problems - which thankfully soon they will be doing.

I don't think we should be putting forward the case that that Humax never said there would be an upgrade - we should therefore like it or lump it. Any piece of software these days has upgrades. Mine cost £300 - I expect upgrades and fixes for that price.

If there was not a promise of fixes I for one would be extremely annoyed. To wait over a year is disgusting.

The design is poor - it could be improved in literally HUNDREDS of ways.

I am not interested in Iplayer, so yes, although I feel the delay gives Humax more time to fix things, i would like to know, when is the upgrade likely to be Humax? Will you release it separate from the Iplayer functionality?

Patrick

Come off it. There's no way it's "seriously flawed". And it should "never have been released in the market in the state it's in" - what are you on about?!

It's far from "disgusting" that there hasn't been an update for a year, also. Disappointing yes, disgusting, no.

If you were to do a survey on every single HDR owner (yes, there's a whole world outside digital spy!), you genuinely think over 50% of the people would tick the box saying it's seriously flawed?
