Hi,

I have recently purchased a 42" Panasonic Plasma TV & have attached my SKY HD+, Blu-Ray DVD player & my VCR to it. The problem i am having is: When i try to record something onto the VCR (for my father in law) i am getting distorted 4 way pictures & the sound is incorrect

I have retuned TV & VCR / VCR is around 5years old & My area has not switched over to Digital yet!!

Can anyone please advise me on what to do?

Thank you

Was the VCR recording OK with your previous telly set up the same way?

You have to be more specific about what you are trying to record and what your connections are.

Presumably you are trying to record off of Sky+HD so the best way to connect the VCR depends on whether you are using a SCART connection from the Sky to the TV in addition to the HDMI and also whether the VCR has 2 SCARTs.

Please post more details including make and model of the VCR.

I'm confused as you say you have returned TV and VCR? Certainly the TV has nothing to do with the recording problem unless you were trying to record off the TV (big mistake) and you also state the VCR is 5 years old - so how have you returned it?

We can help but not with the information you have given.

I'd recommend a DVD player, they are much, much sharper and precise in what you want on. VCR's are a thing of the past now, sadly.

I'm still a little shocked at hi-def TV, and sources, yet using a video recorder.

Isn't this a bit like recording DVD-audio to 8-track?

Does your father in-law not have a DVD player?

To be fair if he's like my parents he'd prefer a video cassette, they will play DVDs but only on sufferance.

Yes, you need to give details of all the connections (HDMI, component, scart and RF) so that we can try to understand which may be causing the problem.

Bobcar, i think th OP posted that he had RETUNED his devices, not RETURNED them.
