Blackberry - No Data Plan
Hi,
Ive just got hold of a Blackberry Pearl. I have put my Vodafone Sim card into it and it says 'gprs' in the top right hand corner. I have no data plan but I understand that Blackberry's check for new emails etc. Would this be the case if I didn't have any email accounts set up and just used the phone to text/call? Thanks |

If you don't have your e-mail account set up, how can it check for e-mails?
When you say got hold of, do you mean the phone is second hand? Do a factory reset to get rid of all the settings or just delete any existing mail accounts, should there be any left on the phone from the previous owner. |

Blackberrys don't check for emails, email are "pushed" to them if you have a BES or BIS service. The signal "gprs" indicates you are on a gprs network. If your phone had push email on it, which it doesn't, it would indicate "GPRS".
