Inspired by the "What did you love about tonight" thread.

I had FORGOTTEN (how could I?!) Ian's exploits in athletics.
And that headband!
And the salsa outfit!

Ian Waite is becoming a comedy legend. I have a sneaky feeling he would make a damned good presenter.

Has anyone any other great Ian moments I have forgotten?
He's a funny chap because I think he's rather lovely and yet he's not one of the supposed "personalities". Didn't they do a tour of his house on ITT ages ago and he was funny on that.

He's very modest, I think.

Your views on Ian, please.

His house was on Through the Keyhole.

In series two he appeared in an outfit described as a pale blue babygro.

He also appeared on ITT in Tights and Leg Warmers

He did the battle of the chests on ITT

He can sing, appeared with Camilla singing on stage at some venue in London.

He IS a lovely man. And he can sing!
If it works for Brucie (except he CAN'T sing) then Ian could be our new host. IMHO.

It took me a few years to get Ian but now I think he`s lovely and when the time comes I wouldn`t object to Ian being the new host

Think he would be great

Ian is lovely and more of his growing appearances last year on ITT, made me like him more. I agree with the presenter bit too.

Ian is my favourite pro. He's funny, self deprecating, generous and always showcases his celeb to their best advantage.

I wonder why he hasn't been given similar opportunities to Anton!

Probably doesn't want the similar opportunities and is happy dancing and teaching at a guess?

Sexy? Sexy?

Did you not see him in that headband?

So fantastic to see other people are now appreciating the gorgeous Ian Waite as much as his International Angels
Spread the Ian love x

AT seeking new members. No application, entrance exam or strange initiations necessary.

This thread is perfectly titled too, as Ian probably takes himself the least seriously of all the pros IMO. He certainly is playing it for laughs more and more. Anyone who's been to one of his live shows knows how entertaining he is, and he's a natural showman.

Yeah, Ian for Brucie's job is OK with me!

Can't say I'm an Ian groupie but I did think it was nice of him this week to go to see 'Jade's world' - for want of a better description. But then I remembered he did the same with Jodie last year, so he scores loads of points from me for that. (Do any of the other pro dancers do a similar thing?)
I did love him with Jodie last year (the waltz being a particular favourite), and am quite liking him with Jade this year. I had everything tightly crossed when it got to the final three last night and was ready to stop watching for the rest of the series if Ian and Jade had been in the dance off - and even worse, voted off.

Did wonder why he chose to look as camp as possible in the track'n'field.
He looks like he'd be notably quiet away from Strictly.
I'm guessing age improved his looks...

Anyone who can have a frog suit in their wardrobe and show it off with such aplomb on ITT is going to be a damn good bloke.

I didn't like his red trousers on Ssturday night though!

It must be a bore he has to appear with a partner. I'm sure he'd prefer to run around on his own going 'Wheeeeeee! Look at meeeeeeeeeeeee!' He's absurd.

My fave Ian moment was from ITT last year when he said that the key to Jodie Kidd performing well was for her to come out on Saturday night and just produce her BREASTS.

We think he meant BEST

Looks like he said the same thing to Jade on Saturday night.

I seem to remember there was a YouTube video of Ian on Come Dancing from years back, where he sported the most horrific curtain hairdo and frilly New Romantics shirt. So hideous as to be almost unrecognisable

I've never seen Ian as being particularly comfy in front of the TV cameras, though you couldn't fault his personality and his willingness to get involved. I think that could be a barrier to any sort of presenting possibilities.

I have been lucky enough to see Ian live three times, one in a presenting role, and he was very relaxed, confident and amusing but I don't think he would be a replacement for Bruce (who I think does a brilliant job). I agree with Lorelei Lee that Ian wouldn't be comfortable in front of the cameras on his own but I could see him paired with Jodie in a presenting role though, as they had such a unique, fun partnership, their personalities complementing each other perfectly.

OK, after tonight I thought this thread was worth resurrecting, but with a slight modification. Perhaps it should be renamed: "The Legend That is Ian Waite's Trousers..."

First we had 'The Big Red Pants' that even got a mention on last week's main show during the ITT plug, and a (comedy) defensive cameo from Ian saying: "leave my trousers out of it!". Then there were the lycra pants worn during the athletics training (using the term 'training' fairly loosely ) shown a couple of times now. And to cap it all, tonight we saw the ultimate in spray-on men's wear, the oil-slick trousers. I mean, how can he ever go back to wearing plain black latin ones now???

In the world of credit crunch Britain, Royal Mail national stikes action, social injustice, third world famine, the battering Strictly is getting in the press and ratings wars, thank heavens for lan Waite. And his trousers.

Thank you so much for that! Just what was needed to lift the totally flagged spirits! And, as has been said before, only Ian could get away with wearing any of the above mentioned. He never ceases to amaze and delight!

The trousers weren't great but I did enjoy the amount of chest on show.
