Getting past those darned adverts again

I hope so.

After all his career may be seen as expendable but others would stand to lose a helluva lot more if he didn't fall on his sword.

Sincerest Thanks. You've made bedtime with teddy even more enjoyable tonight.

I expect the BBC will protect the investment they've made in him so far.

Hopefully after that he'll be quietly dropped.

Hole in the wall would never get more than 1 series anyway - it's dire. How it ever got the go ahead in the first place is a mystery to me.

Why should they? The man made a mistake and apologized. She forgave him and that's the end of the matter. No big deal except to over sensitive, politically correct liberals.

As an over-sensitive, "politically correct" liberal, I think that's crap, to be honest. I don't think he should be sacked at all, I just think he said something stupid and thoughtless - but ultimately it's dragged on far too long now. He's apologised, she's clearly fine with it now - let's move on.

Originally I thought Anton's career on TV was probably ruined, but now I think he will probably be okay after the way he has handled himself over the last 7 days - especially during his appearance with Laila on ITT, when they were both clearly genuinely distraught over the whole thing. He will never live down what has happened, but I can still see him taking over from Bruce and continuing to work in TV as before.

Agree a sincere apology should be the end of the matter, but it wasn't something just to be shrugged off. If you think it's fine to go around casually using a term with racist connotations, I'd say that says a load more about you than about "political correctness", quite frankly.

I doubt that any of the professional dancers is indispensible.

I'm not just talking about the dancers, I'm talking generally. Things are going terribly, terribly wrong with this show. From judges to presenters to dancers to format issues it seems to me that the production team is out of control.

I suspect this year will be seen as the beginning of the end for SCD. And its all pretty much self-inflicted. Its quite amusing watching the BBC destroy their golden goose.

I don't agree at all. This series of SCD is so much better than the last series and I think it is now right back on track.

What on earth makes you say this?

Because this is the way shows die. They lose credability and the audiance slowly, slowly deflates. Lets come back here in three years and I'll bet SCD is either off air or about to be taken off. Its downhill all the way now, I'm afraid.

Of course another three years from now will have given it a ten year run - Thats not bad at all.

Exactly, most shows never even get to that.

And to get back on Topic, I would have said a few days ago that yes he was f***ed, but I now think that this will blow away as so much does when the next news story hits.

I think Anton will be fine if he stays squeaky clean.
I thought his apology on ITT was contrite and genuine and the guy looked devastated.
I still deplore what he said, but I never called for his sacking, I wanted a proper apology from him, and I'd have liked liked to have seen a far more strongly worded statement from the BBC, but it was one incident, and he can recover from that.
Various people have blotted their copybooks on TV in the past - Ross, Clary, Peter Kay and others, but they've come back.

People in front of the camera (dancers, presenters or actors etc) are probably less dispensible than the unknown faces behind the cameras because they will have the support of their fanbase.

I wonder how long the whistle blower would have to wait before signing on after being sacked?

Well this week's furure suggests that Anton has learned from Brucie how to put one's foot in one's mouth.

Why not?

She has joined the hundreds of people on here who also think that they are entitled to freedom of speech.

Good for her.
