Still in total shock that Steo is gone forever. He, and the other lads were so looking forward to releasing their brand new album (which they have recorded). Also they had a world tour planned - i saw that on Mikey's twitter page.

It's just so sad, and i've been in shock the whole day. There's so many reminders of Steo around. Including my videos from Friday 19th June 2009 at the M.E.N. Arena.

So, what does everyone think the future holds for Boyzone?

They could do a Westlife, and carry on as a four piece. I know that Steo was one of their main singers along with Ronan - but Mikey has an amazing voice too, so he could take up the role of leads along with Ronan.

I'd like to think they'd maybe do a tour in tribute to Stephen.

I've read on the Boyzone forum, and people on there are saying that they reckon they will carry on, as it's what Steo would have wanted.

R.I.P. Stephen, you will be missed terribly! Still can't believe you're gone - but heaven has gained a true angel!

I'd like to think they'd keep on but just wouldn't be the same. saying that, I'd love to see them live as I haven't been fortunate to see them yet. I hope the album gets a release

They could easily continue as a four-piece. They'll probably keep all of Stephen's tracks for the album, but re-record the singles when they're released.

Never thought about them doing it that way - great idea, and that would work. Hope they do decide to do something along the lines of this.

I think they could post-pone the album (due to be released in spring) and the tour - to give them time to come to terms with what's happened.

Just a wild guess but I'd suspect more godawful albums/singles.

I think the album will get released as a tribute to/in memory of Stephen. And then perhaps a short tour, with Mikey doing more lead vocals (something I've longed wished for, but not under these circumstances).

Should that happen, then afterwards, I think it would be down to how they felt. Only time will tell. But at the moment, it's just not important.

They will probably continue as a four-piece personally Stephen was my fave. Tho are they actually fully coming back cos Keith is going to Corrie again so it would be next to impossible to do both.

I think they'll continue to produce insipid garbage much as they always have.

Much as I'm not a Boyzone fan, I did like Stephen and find it hard to imagine the band without him. Not only did he do a lot of vocals, he was also a very likeable character and very prominent in the band.

I watched the funeral today, and Ronan said:

"He will live on in the songs and whenever us four are together his spirit is alive." "For Stephen, we will carry on, but it will never be the same without him."

Does everyone think Ronan means that Boyzone are going to carry on as a fourpiece? Or just that they're going to hold it together for Steo? I personally think Ro means the band are gonna carry on for him!

Yeah he is! He was going back into Corrie even before Steo died tho - and he was still taking part in Boyzone's new album, and they were all going on a world tour at some point.

They haven't fault this through, how can they ever tour again? Stephen sung 99% of the time in their songs, how can they do their new stuff live?

I was expecting them to release their finished album as a dedication to Stephen, and that would be it, their plan to continue is both, sadly illogical and flawed, it can't work for tours or live performances of their new single/s of their new album, fact.

I agree Jay - Stephen was one of the main singers along with Ronan. However Mikey has become more prominent in the band, so could take over on leads with Ronan - he sang a solo bit on their latest tour, and was amazing! Yeah no-one can be as good as Steo, and the band have said this - but they want to keep going for him.

They could get round it by releasing the finished album as a dedication to Stephen, so we can hear the album he so wanted to release. Then any songs they decide to release as a single - re-record them but with Mikey or something doing Steo's parts.

It could work, and it's not illogical in the fact that Stephen wouldn't have wanted the rest of the band, or fans to be sad forever. He was soooo happy that Boyzone were back together - and will be looking down on the four lads willing them back into the studio. He lived, breathed and slept Boyzone, and would want them to continue in his memory.

not sure about boyzone but ronan is bound to have big success with his cover of stay which is the most gorgeous song released in the past few years (Jennifer Nettles)

The comeback was actually really good in 2007. Love You Anyway and Better were both really nice modern songs. The 90s may have been a bit cheesy, but... I think the last week has shown that Boyzone are more than your typical boy band.

Given that Boyzone have been playing to half empty arenas on there comeback tour, and that they haven't been able to give tickets away for free, I would suggest that fading away in to the sunset might be a good idea.

I don't know how the guys would want to carry on together now anyway.

They only got back together for the money anyhoo. So they will all carry on doing their solo projects or disappearing into the background until they are hauled out for the odd Boyzone gig -which will be a money spinner as people run to gape at the 'grief and fond nostalgia' crying to the inevitable cloying lyrics that have always been their brand. Simple. Loadsa money Louis

It would be nice if they put together an album of unheard songs with Stephen. It sounds like they didn't start recording the new album they had only picked 30 songs to work on.

I should think that the immediate future will hold lots of nice juicy royalties. There's nothing like a dead musician to boost sales.

According today's Mirror, they had 30 songs on a demo CD, they were each given copies of the songs 2 weeks ago and were aboout to deceide which songs to work on for the album which was due for release on Mother's Day. If they have Stephen's vocals then there is no reason not to release the album as a tribute to him. At least it gives the fans something to keep.
