Nasty, nasty comment, it goes much too far!

Im starting to feel that its a real no no for anyone to criticise Alesha at all without feeling the condemnation of her supporters. Surely in her position as a judge its absolutely fair to be able to criticise her for poor grammar, references to previous contestants and that laugh (these are just examples) if we want to. People have criticised Bruno for his innuendos, Craig for his nastiness and Len for his grumpiness for years, never mind what poor old Brucie and Tess have to endure on these boards.
Its almost as though Alesha is untouchable. Surely its just the par for the course that she is loved and loathed (or just unliked) in equal measure. Are we not allowed to point things out that annoy us because she's new ? As I have previous said I was a fan of her as a contestant, and surprised at her appointment (annoyed with the BBC not her), but have not taken to her as a judge. I also am fed up with Len's overmarking and inconsistency, but to criticise him seems to be fair game, with Alesha it's apparently not. I dont get it.”

I'm not an Alesha fan even though I thought she was an outstanding contestant.

I was not in favour of her replacing Arlene, and I haven't changed my mind.

That laugh is horrendous - thank God she hasn't found anything too amusing on SCD this year.

I felt she was out of order in her remarks to RW and have posted to this effect.

I have defended her lack of correct English. SCD is light entertainment, not University Challenge.

You're kidding - a mere 3 weeks ago you couldn't look at this forum without seeing a new "Alesha: why she's rubbish" thread appearing.

There was a vast outpouring of Alesha-hatred, on this very forum. It seems strange that now there are accusations that it's impossible to criticise her, when she's had so much recent criticism thrown at her.

Personally, I'm still waiting - I'll make up my mind at the end of the series about Alesha.

Only if you imagine Andrew Castle attaches much self-worth to how he did on a game-show measuring a trivial skill over a year ago now. I can't imagine he does, because he doesn't seem like a loon.

Certainly not as mean as suggesting Bruce is mediocre, can't read, and dances like a toddler that's crapped itself, given as how this is how he makes his living. Not that would anyone would do that within their first page of previous posts after slagging someone off for how nasty they are.

Some of us think attributing mediocrity to Bruce is to flatter.

Blimey, are people still zooming in on Alesha's every word to see what they can criticise?

Seems to me she has settled in just fine.

It depends what you're critising really. I don't think Andrew is losing any sleep over this - one of the reasons I kinda like him is that he knew he wasn't any good but tried anyway and was always a gentleman to Ola. Cf. my comments about admitting he was pants on Celeb Masterchef whilst interviewing two of the finalists for GMTV this year.

I don't think Chris Hollins was gutted that he wasn't Matt DA in salsa terms either - other people have said he was no Ramps and I'm sure he was happy not to have deserved comparisons with Kate Garroway - I think the guy knew this wasn't his dance - especially after last week.

However if people are critising her for being lazy in comparing contestants to previous ones then that's fair game.

I have to admit that I think Alesha is pointless as a judge but am resigned to her presence at least for this series (I so wish they'd hired Karen instead). I like her generally and hope she hasn't messed up her career by doing this. However her grammar is mildly annoying especially as she's not stupid and is doing probably doing it to be street - apart from what she iz not a bad role model. I don't mind the laugh but then I've got a loud laugh that has been paroded too.
