All I can think of is when he penalised Alesha Dixon for her Waltz in the final, when all the other 3 including ultra picky Craig gave her a 10. Which seemed incredibly petty and out of order to me. When he had given Gethin a 10 earlier in the series despite admitting to noticing more than one misstake.

Funnily enough last year during a Waltz master class with Claudia on ITT he described Aleshas Waltz as perfect and Caludia pointed out she never got a 40 for it, he remarked that was only because of Craig beign stupid

Most of the others didn't even get the basic salsa steps right. Most took huge steps as if it were a ballroom dance and didn't even shift their weight properly. It the technique for the salsa is so simple - which it is - then the professionals should have made sure their celebs mastered it. The others such as Tuffers and Natalie were performing - but not a decent salsa.

Still at least its not as obvious as Dancing with the Stars where Tom DeLay who couldn't dance with two working legs managed to get more judges points than another contestant just for "bravely" taking to the floor. Now that contestant must know he has no change at all of a fair score when the judges favour someone with two injured legs over him.

At the risk of totally complicating the scoring process, Oh, what the heck why not. Ive often thought there should be two sets of marks one for the content and technical aspect and one for the performance side.

Absolutely - Like in ice skating, with the marks for technical merit and artistic impression. That way, the technical and performance aspects would be explicitly assessed.
