It's sad but a fact. he is now embarrassing. He hogs the limelight makes dreadful jokes, his wig has a life of its own and some of his comments to contestants are clearly upsetting them. Its time he went.

I have been a fan of his since the late 1950's. There's not many entertainers who have done as much as he. He has never once used a swear word and deseves to be a national treasure.

I hate to see him as he is now.

Ps Why on earth hasn't he been knighted? Long over due, long.

I think this has been said every year since Strictly began! I'm not disagreeing though.

I'm on the cusp of agreeing with OP.

Loathed Brucie in my youth. Liked him in SCD, ham and all, prob because it was a remembrance of things past of a simpler life.

Now - I don't mind that he's not perfect, in fact, I enjoy the lack of slickness in SCD - but yes, I find myself holding my breath when he's on in case he takes a fall, physical or verbal.

I think maybe this should be his last series when he's in charge - but I'd happily watch him in guest spots.

I love Brucie's laugh and if he left, I'd miss him.

Happy to watch Bruce for as long as he wants to do the show

I think he should retire before they get rid of him. None of his jokes are funny, and some are even insulting, he often messes up what he's saying, he's completely unpredictable and must be a nightmare to work with.
He was a good presenter once but now he has just got too old. They could probably get a much better presenter for about a quater of what they pay Bruce.

I love Bruce but he does seem to be a lot more doddery this year and I think maybe this should be his last series

I agree the jokes he makes before announcing each couple are quite often embarrassing for them (and us), i'm not sure he writes them though to be fair, he's just saying what he's been told to. When something happens and he has to ad lib I think he can be quite funny, (when Craig said Zoe's rumba was like looking through a keyhole, Bruce replied 'oh you're one of them are you') that was very quick and genuinely seemed to make the audience laugh.

I find him kind of rude at times as well. Both to the judges and the celebrities. The problem is he is so arrogant and has such a high opinion of himself he is not going to quit of his own accord, he'll either do it until he drops dead or the Beeb sacks him. He even took legal action last year when a newspaper suggested he was about to quit, and they had to print a retraction.

That tells you how up himself he is. Anyone else would have just let that go. If every celeb presenter sued when it was reported they were quitting their job the papers would have no money left.

They should sack him and get Paul O'Grady to do it. He is perfect for the job imo.

oh yes, I vote for Paul O'G too!

They wont hire him though, it'll be Graham Norton who seems to be the BBC's one and only live TV entertainment presenter these days He's fine, but I think Paul would be much better. He can do live telly and is very good at empathising with people. I think the viewers would want him as Brucie's replacement as well.

Personally, I don't find him in the least embarrassing, but then I'm a succer for innocent corny jokes - Tommy Cooper was one of my great favourites. If Brucie feels able to carry on and the BBC wants him to, then why shouldn't he? What's there to 'hate' about seeing him as he is now if you're a lifelong fan? Why should he be put out to grass if its unnecessary; he's not weak or doddery, he's not! He is absolutely amazing.

I agree about the knighthood, definitely long overdue.

so its age discrimination now??? after the uproar about Arlene's age???

I've seen him live at SCD and he's bl**dy good.

Live TV is exceedingly difficult, give him some credit. I actually thought it had been made fairly clear that this series IS his last, they are not likely to kick him out half way.

Please can everyone start playing nicely, I have enough sh!t at work at the moment, this used to be a pink fluffy place.

i love bruce. when hes doing the ad libs hes so genuinely quick and witty for a man of his age. he shouldnt be drummed out of the show, hes mr saturday night and always will be, when he wants to go let him, but he shouldnt be forced out of it.
its not him, its the scriptwriters anyway!! the scripted jokes are sometimes woeful! but they arent his! hes just reading them!

He could do both Bruce and Tess' roles. Just bring Lily back for the backstage bits.

Oh Yes! O'Grady gets my vote too. I'd make a point of watching then like I used to. Now I just watch if it's on when I turn on the TV

I think Tess would need to improve if Paul O'Grady joined the show. Can you imagine his acid comments if she relied on simpering?

Someone mentioned Bruce's toupee (sorry, can't do accents, I don't know how), but what about his dentures? I'm sure that, on occasions, they move before the rest of his mouth. Given my mother's problems with hers, it can only be a matter of time before they salsa across the dance floor.

Keep Brucie!!

HIs legendary gags are funny. SOmetimes cringy but if it makes them blush, surprised, laugh then thats all good.

Keep it up Bruce.

As fo Tess, she needs to go

Strictly just wouldn't be Strictly without Brucie. I love him.
He's from the golden age of corny jokes ......actually some of them make me laugh out loud.........a song and dance man and amazingly fit for his age.....I only hope that I can run down the stairs at 81 as he does.

POG has a dodgey ticker and most of his teatime shows are recorded anyway. He has to have a weeks break every so often in between shows, so I can't see Paul taking over from Brucie. It would be to stressful for him.

As for Graham Norton ..............Nooooooooooooo

Every week of every series to more more accurate I'd say!

But I still like him and don't want him to leave yet. For me he is still part of the Strictly experience and makes me laugh.

I think POG would be good - has a lot of Strictly couples on his show and he's always good with them and he appears to be a fan. His heart problems might mean the beeb is unlikely to give him the job in case they cause him problems again though.

I agree POG would be great but he does have a health problem, let's hope he's finally stopped smoking!

I'm a fan of Brucie but his performance on this current series is beginning to make me cringe. Brucie, enjoy yourself but make this your last series.

Graham Norton would be my choice as his replacement. I appreciate his BBC2 show can be smutty but he's been great on the Andrew Lloyd Webber find a star shows.

Much as I like Bruce, I think POG would be good for the show.

I would hate graham norton hosting the show. I find him vile.

I very much doubt Brucie will retire, he's the type that will want to work until he's physically unable.

But when he does or the BBC decide he has to go POG would be a great substitute.

Hang up your toupee now and shimmy, or whatever that self indulgent, ridiculous, cringe-worthy dance routine you do at the start of the show, off.

You were past your sell by date years ago, and while you are at it take the wooden top Tess with you.

How you pair of dopes were ever put in charge of this show goodness only knows.

Mind you I have got a long hatred of Forsythe. I was looking admiringly at a the dashbord of a flashy American car outside the Princess Theatre in Torquay when I was a lad, when a voice behind me hissed " Move!, go on **ck off"
It was Forsythe himself with a (non TV) face like thunder.

I've not minded Brucie on SCD and as I record it and watch XF then I just forward through his waffle! But that kinda says it really that I'm sick of him and his pathetic jokes and we really could do with a change now.

They shouldn't wheel him out for another year - please replace him with someone younger and easier on the eye - they insulted Arlene that way so let's have the same equality male-wise.
