Copying CDs to Foxsat HDR
I read in another post that somebody's complete music collection was on the Humax.
I would like to do that with some CDs, but I am not having any success with conversion. I have copied music files .wav and converted them to MP3 and MP4, but the Humax is not seeing them. Could somebody explain roughly the procedure, please Thanks for any help |

You can play back mp3s either from a usb connected drive or the internal HDD. Connect a drive with mp3's on. Go into media and press yellow to change to music mode. To play mp3's on the usb drive press yellow again and change to the usb drive and locate your files. To copy them to the hdd you need to use file manager (opt+ from media list)

It probably isn't seeing them cos you have to make sure you press the yellow botton from the media section. it will only recognise mp3 not mp4

I have now copied many tunes to the HDR and they play very well and the sound is terrific, But. There is one mystery you may be able to solve for me....
On one particular CD there are two songs that are my wife's favourites. I can see them on the HDR and I can select them, but they will not play. It looks like they are playing, but there is no sound They play on the PC direct from the USB transfer device (VLC Media PLayer) and they play on the Windows Media Player. Also, they will not play direct from the USB transfer device on the Humax. It seems that the Humax just doesn't like them, but as I said they are my wife's favourites and any help you can suggest will be gratefully received. Thanks Robert |

Thanks GC. Yes, the whole CD was ripped at the same time. I have also tried ripping them separately, but it still doesn't work

Maybe ther'es some unreadable characters in the filename - try re-naming them

You may be on the right track as it is a foreign CD with some odd characters.
How do I change the name of a CD file? I have tried changing the name of the title, but is that the same thing because that doesn't work. I thought CD files were .cdi, but I cant find any reference to files names with cd anything. |

You'd need to do it on your PC or laptop. Might also be worthwile editing the ID tag data as that 'may' casue an issue. Yu can do this by using Windows Media Player.
Once changed then load them back to the Hummy. I'd expect the file you are playing has an .mp3 extension |

It's the file name of the mp3 that needs changing. The file name wants to be the track name followed by the .mp3 file extension eg. happybirthday.mp3
You might want to consider shortening the file name as the foxsat might not be able to handle long file names eg. hbirthdy.mp3 |

with the mp3 file visible within a folder or on your desktop right click the file and select rename as you would for any other type of file. Type the name of the track and remember to add the file extension.
Changing the id tags in windows media player start by playing the track and then pause it and switch the player to the library tab then click the 'now playing' link on the left side of the player and then right* click on the track and select 'Advanced Tag Editor' * assuming your right handed |

You have done it again! Thanks very much to all those who helped me with this project. All is working well.
I wonder how many people use the Humax for just TV, not realising what else it is capable of such as storing music and photos. I have transferred 10 CDs and that uses only 1% of the partition. There is plenty of room for large music collections Thanks again |
