I fully agree with the DS review of Ego.

I do like the Saturdays and their music, but they are lacking a real standout single - a song that's likely to be a huge big-selling hit, like Girls Aloud's Sound Of The Underground and The Promise, amongst others, and Sugababes had songs like Freak Like Me and About You Now, for example. I mean, If someone asked you who The Saturdays were, what songs would you point to?

Sadly I can't see any big potential hits on Wordshaker (I prefer Chasing Lights by far), there's some decent ones like One Shot and the title track, but they are yet to have a single that blows us away and sets the charts alight (and stays there for considerable time). If they get a 3rd album then they will need some of them, but if sales of Wordshaker don't improve dramatically, we might not see that 3rd Saturdays album.

fully agree with you there. imho they have been let down by their writing team/management. i think they have potential but without the right 'signiture track' (as you highlight) their future is in doubt.

According to the Daily Mail, Vanessa is taking part in a reality show about opera, so it looks like The Sats are already looking for alternative employment opportunities!

I suppose Up is the track that most people would associate with the saturdays, it charted lower than FIO and JCGE but its kinda their signature song at the moment. I don't think Ego is their standout track either even though I love it.

I think they are like Girls Aloud, get so close to number 1 but rarely hit it.

I think Issues is their signature song at the moment.

Anyway Ego up 3 places this week to #17. Does anyone know the sales this week and in total?

I think Up and Issues are their signature songs. Anyone buy or download Ego yet? I'm getting my copy on Thursday.

Ego currently at #13 on iTunes, but that's the album version at 99p, the single version which came out today is 79p and is 11 seconds longer, however, it is nowhere to be seen on the chart.

The sales for last week are approximately 27,000 so that brings Ego to approx. 73,443

I think 'Work' could have been their signiture track if it was released earlier on...leaving it until the end was not a good move.

I saw the advert for this earlier. I was surprised (not because she's a bad singer, she's brilliant, the best voice in the group) but because of the saturdays promo, etc. I hope they're not looking for alternative career paths now

I think they're going to miss out on a top 5 single

So what if it misses out on the Top 10, it's sales in the long run are more important, hopefully within the next month it'll have steady sales of say 20,000 a week and maybe in the long term it can get 220,000 +

Joe is #10, too.

I think/hope The Sats can overtake both by Sunday.

#11 on iTunes hopefully it can crack the top 10. By the way, I already have Ego as I have the album, but I decided to download the single version to help them out, plus it's a bit different at the beginning, but the artwork is from the Album Cover and not the artwork on the Radio 1 website?

I recommend joining Buzzjack. If you go there, look in the forums, go to UK Chart Chat and then go to the iTunes thread you'll see the latest pop bars posted.

Rihanna has a lead on The Sats but it's not *that* huge. However The Sats/Cheryl/Alexandra are all pretty close.

But the single mix is at #41. It jumped about 120 places between yesterday and today.
