Hi, first post so be gentle! Time to ditch the bog standard sky box - and move away from Sky altogether if poss.
I will want to record radio progs on a regular basis, i.e. preferably something which will record for an hour each day, Mon - Fri, setup + forget. Easy portability onto an MP3 player is a must! Obviously will use the for TV recordings as well. Any suggestions??

I can't say I've ever tried radio stations, but the Humax PVR probably does what you want - and is a better make then the alternatives.

The foxsat-hdr meets all those requirements

I could add that recording Radio shows has never been so easy using the Foxsat, a Radio Show can be scheduled in the EPG and then copied to a USB stick, it would need to be converted to mp3 but this isn't a problem either, it has been covered on these forums.

Just to put a slight downer on this, not all channels transmitting radio feeds use series link meta data so, should the need exist, the user needs to set a one off recording and then use the foxsat schedule editing to convert it to a repeat schedule. But it's still a piece of p... to use

Surprised not to see a mention of the Panasonic.

I know even the lowest end of the range is more expensive than the ones discussed above, but they do have the additional advantage of having a DVD recorder built in.

Any views?

HDD capacity - Can be upgraded to 1TB Max. for around £55.00 outlay so you save around £45.00 as against the Goodman's.. (It's a 30min job to change the HDD, but bear in mind your warranty is negated if you do this within the warranty perion). Again like others here I've had no problems with recording issues which I think are more tyo do with the broadcasters and "flagging" than the Humax itself. For thos knocking the Humax they have been in the Satellite receivr manufacturing business for some considerable time with Topfield and others coming out the same stable.

I think the Panasonic's are still on the expensive side, bottom of the Freesat range is around the £500 mark, the original poster was asking about recording radio from Freesat recorders and I would think the Panasonic would be the same as the Humax which records radio as a .ts
