How come we never get any decent male singers on X Factor?
I was just looking at performances by people like David Cook, Chris Daughtry etc on American Idol and realised how sh*te the male singers on X factor really are.
It's ALWAYS whining crooner boy-band types that get through, never any variation - where are all the decent British male voices with a bit of grit to them?? Seriously, all we get are the substandard, greasy-fringed 90s throwbacks who've just hit puberty, there hasn't been any slightly more powerful male voices since Ben back in Leona's series. Ugh. Sorry, it annoys me - there's so many great female singers every year so where are all the men?? Rant over....

I actually disagree this year. *Some* of the male singers are much more talented than the female singers!

Austin Drage was amazing...the best male x factor has seen in my view.
He has a fantatsic voice, even better when he is doing what he loves, soul music.... tp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACVIB1DvXQo take listen you cant deny he is not amazing, this boy has the x factor in gallons... |

Lol point taken Effy, but come on. LLOYD??? RIKKI????
OK, so we've had Rhydian, Ben and (possibly) Shayne, Jamie may count but his hair annoys me :P. Compare that to all the decent female singers there's been over the years, and different styles too. EDIT: AUSTIN!! I forgot about him He is pretty amazing in that video.... who the hell voted him off??? In favour of... *shudder* EGGNOG.

I mean the industry is full of young pretty boys who cant really sing that well..zac efron, jesse mc-whatever his name is. If your pretty it sells..hense Lloyd, given the right material Lloyd *could* make lots of money through his looks thats why he is on the show... |

I never understood why such a fuss was made of Laura being voted out last year when the far superior Austin was voted out before her.

![]() I know Rhydian has already been pointed out to you but my point is there seem to be less men with big, powerful voices around than there are women. Or is that a misconception? |

Me too. I think I've chosen the wrong person this year too.
I was so upset to go to the tour last year and have to listen to Eggnog when all I wanted was to see Austin. No doubt the same will happen this year. I'm clearly bad luck. |

Whoa, whoa. Austin got kicked off for HER???? I f*cking hate X Factor's voting demographic, I really do. Oh well, slightly less embarrassing than having the Conway Sisters picked instead of you... Quote:

This is probably true. But American Idol seem to have no problem picking them up I suppose my point kind of links to that other thread about having a Rock themed week, it's the constant focus on weedy soulless pop music and singers that really irritates me!! (Not that I don't like pop music. I do. Just not the weedy soul-less sort, and not when it's sung by the likes of Eggnog) |

Austin was a great singer but lacked star quality IMO.
Having said that, I don't think many of this years men have both strong voices and star quality either. |

Austin for me was sent packing in case he won! that was my theory anyway.
Agree on needing some rock songs and even a rock themed night, why not we get dreadful disco every year. |

Totally agree with the OP, everything is on Idol seems to be better than X Factor when it comes to performances, even when they have rubbish theme weeks eg. Mariah week
When it comes to male singers, Idol just wins hands down probably down to the fact that Idol has a live band and not a backing track. The live band then allows for creativity with song choices and not karaoke For example: Bo Bice - In A Dream Chris Daughtry - Walk The Line Blake Lewis - You Give Love A Bad Name David Cook - Eleanor Rigby Jason Castro - Hallelujah Michael Johns - Dream On Adam Lambert - Ring Of Fire Kris Allen - She Works Hard For The Money |
