HI, I recall some threads a while back about the HDMI connection on the box being unstable...I'm about to buy an LCD TV, my first step away from the world of CRT! Should I pick up an HDMI cable for the digibox, or stick with scart?

cheers

Go with the HDMI. As well as being able to watch HD content if you wish, you also get an upscaled picture on SD from the box which in my experience gives a better picture, especially with BTV as it does appear to have a better scaler than my TV.

I connected the Vision box to the TV from the moment I got it last November and I haven't had a single problem.

Thanks Guys...any recommendations for a cable? I had a quick look in Comet tonight, but the cables in there were £80, which seemed a touch more than I was expecting. I'll have a quick look on Amazon

awsome. nice to hear that, good test. the more people test HDMI thru a receiver the better. as its quite a rare combo at present.

so we are not sure on the support on it.

it does have one of the best pictures around. mines set to 720p but 1080i is also good. HD films are very good. Fresh Water Planet earth really does show off the HD potential the box has.

Hmmm...have just invested in a Sony 40W5500...watching freeview with the vision box output set to 1080 is not a pleasant experience. Its blurry and smudgy and shimmery...anyone else get this? Right now, I prefer my old CRT...

cheers all

Sounds obvious but you have connected by HDMI? (not trying to say you're an idiot but you'd be suprised by the people who try to watch HD through scart)

Anyway, guessing that you have, try messing around with your TV picture settings to better the picture and also try setting the box to 720p instead of 1080i. Some TVs tend to prefer the 720p setting on the BTV box

try adjusting the TV set.

mine was razor sharp with jaggies everywhere and a colour so bright it would hurt your eyes!

problem is, many LCD's pre set the image controls to counteract the inbuilt tuners/upscalers poor quality.

so on mine I toned down the sharpness + colour and then adjusted the contrast/brightness accordingly. now the image is superb.

seems you may need to up your sharpness and alter contrast / brightness / colour.

generally though once done its one of the best images around.

HI, yes, I'm going to make some time this evening to play around....the tv looks great with a dvd updscaled, but for general freeview I'm still not happy today, my picture just isnt sharp enough, kind of smeary looking. I appreciate though thatthis is my first experience of LCD at home, and am comparing unfavourably to CRT

cheers

Just an update, i can confirm the vision box using hdmi connection will work with the onkyo 507, denon 1910.
only issues were with the denon, on hdmi pass through (receiver on standby) got picture but no audio, turning the vision box off and then back on sorted it.
dont get me started on hdmi hand shake issues , i have spent most of september returning kit and finally have a working set up.
panasonic tx-p42x10b...yamaha rx-v765 and a sony bdp s350. it all works, no problems, including the vision box with hdmi connection...
