I see the Rampant Rabbit didn't make it again, not enough women on the jury presumably.

Well done Humax and Freesat. This certainly has been my gadget of the year. Sure it's not perfect but so far the last 6 months have been almost trouble free.

I tried extending the post-record time to 5 minutes the other day since I kept missing the end of Casualty due to Strictly Come Dancing overrunning and each time, the HDR froze. Third time it worked.

Otherwise, it faithfully records what I've asked for and I like the remote and the interface.

So it's not all grumbling!

Isn't the EPG dynamically updated by the BBC on a Freesat PVR? On the Sky EPG the BBC will adjust the EPG live, so you don't miss anything. That's on 'automatic'. If you manually pad it won't work.

Just like on Sky the epg is a seperate transmission on Freesat (the actual broadcast have only now now and next epg data and accurate record start and stop info) the data comes from the individual broadcaters bit it's freesat that support and transmit the epg (That's all they do). At least on a humax freesat box the epg is trickle charged all the time and pressing guide dowmloads a new copy (abouut 30 sec) to the buffered epg. The Foxsat-hrd also supports auto padding and series accurate record at the same time.

Snap!

I think coopermanyorks now understands the expression: 'hoist by his own petard'.

ROFLMAO.

If you absolutely must patrol this forum in order to talk down Freesat and anything associated with it you must expect a bit of ribbing when you place your foot firmly in your mouth by implicitly pointing out that that no Sky product was even considered.

It used to just slightly annoying having the 'Sky squad' posting at every opportunity but now they are becoming a bit of a joke.

To be fair Sky's boxes have been around too long to stand a chance. The newest model is the HD box and that's been around for three years now.

The rumours of a new box coming soon might make them a contender next year though.

Pressing "Guide" doesn't seem to update it though does it, when recording? So it wouldn't help to view the guide when e.g. Strictly Come Dancing is on or coming to an end.

Would I be better off with auto-padding than setting the record to an extra 5 minutes after a show has finished?

We are way off topic now.......

But, No, you would be better off using Auto from the Recording Menu.

This will pick up triggers from a separate stream that the broadcasters update more accurately and far more regularly than the EPG data. This is known as Accurate Recording (AR).

That's because it needs a tuner to access a new guide. Simply press schedule and then red to get the buffered epg.

With all these awards the manufacturers submit their products for consideration.

As you can see from the shortlist, not many did!!

Do you have a source for that wrt this award?

Well, all we can say for certain is that no Sky product even made it to the short list.
