I brought something of ebay, and it was shipped last Saturday. The seller sent it by USPS First Class Mail International. So its been 6 days now and I have not recieved my item yet. How long does it usually take to ship items from the US to the UK by using First class mail?

I believe there is no longer any such thing as surface mail from the US (which could have taken several weeks) and USPS First Class Mail International is now the cheapest and slowest option. I think you should wait two to three weeks before being concerned, and of-course you have to bear in mind that the post is sometimes being delayed in the UK at present due to the death-wish of the postal unions.

Don't forget customs, I've had mail sent from the US held up there for weeks.

USPS says 6-10 working days, so give it a few more days.

Remember our wonderful bolshevik Postal Workers are striking soon so it could take even longer !!!

I can get spares delivered for my car in 5 days, but you have to pay that bit extra.

I am sure that on ebay the sellers postal charges tell you as well as how much, how long. What does the sellers postal delivery service that you paid for say. Isn't that the first place you should be checking to see if it's over due or not yet and contacting the seller?

It's pointless expecting normal deliveries at present - the package could easily spend some time sitting in a sorting office after it has arrived in the UK.

I really don't think there's anything to be worried about at present. The service used is an economy rate and not particularly fast.

I normally get mail from the US in 4-5 days via USPS, regardless of sender's location.

Edit: See USPS. First-Class Mail International is the cheapest/slowest of four international mailing options, with no average estimate on delivery given, other than "Varies by Destination".

Thanks for the info guys. I know there is a 48day policy from ebay that if you dont recieve your item by then there is a concern and you have to contact your seller, and you get your money back.

I thought First class USP was the fastest way of recieving mail because it was "first class" I guess I was judging a book by the cover, but the link helped me understand the postal services in the US so thanks.

Even though it is economy class, does it mean I will still get my item?

Only if mail gets lost.. normal transit is nothing like that long.

I'd be complaining about your book garcia!!

Surface mail from East Russia to Europe is quicker than that - and that is possibly the slowest mail on the Earth
