Its the Rhydian scenario all over again. Make someone out to be the villain of the piece and they'll get higher ratings and more media exposure. Much more than if they had 12 very lovely, but slightly boring people.
I didn't like the J&E's route through the auditions, I did think they came across as obnoxious. However, having believed all the negative stories about Rhydian and then realising I had been conned, am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being.
By the time we watch the later auditions on the telly, they have already chosen the final 12, so the auditions can be edited to fit whatever the producers have decided their respective personas are going to be.
Having employed a few 17 year olds in my time, at least J&E are articulate and can follow a fairly complicated routine. I've had difficulty trying to explain an alphabetic filing system in the past to some school leavers, so at least they have something about them.
