I don't think that the presenter has to have a great knowledge of dancing - he is there to present, not to comment and judge (something I think Brucie tends to forget!). I don't watch Autumnwatch, so I can't comment as to whether I think Chris Packham would suit SCD (e.g. I like Adrian Childs, but I know he would NOT be suitable - not got the right 'manner').

Apart from Aled Jones, my other choice would be Michael Aspel (he used to present Come Dancing back in the day )

OK..its that time again......

How many times will Bruce fluff his lines, forget someone's name or insult someone?

The clock starts ticking when the show begins.....

On last week's show:

Tess fluffed her lines

Bruno forgot someone's name

Craig insulted several people
So why pick on Bruce? He does a great job!

Because he does all of the above EVERY WEEK!!! He's just too old and doddery to do this show.

Bruce isn't funny. It used to be funny that his jokes weren't funny - just corny. Now even that's too old.

And can't he just present? What was all that Brendan/Craig business for?

Trouble is that he thinks he's the star of the show. Maybe SCD needed a big name at the start and he was the one for a Saturday but the programme has grown and he needs to take a back-seat. People don't watch it for Brucie. They may once have done in Series 1 or 2 but no longer.

I argee I don't see what's wrong with Paul O Grady doing it.

The trouble with Bruce is that he thinks he is bigger than the actual show itself......which he isnt.

His over-inflated ego thinks people LIKE his (un) funny jokes and his innuendo but the truth is, people tune in to watch the DANCING!

Bruce may have been good in the early series, but I'm afraid he's completely lost it this series. I also think people could tolerate him to some extent, however, his constant "gaffs" and un-called for comments just make it worse!

You watch....tonight he'll make some inappopriate comment tonight, make some lame joke which the audience will groan at and get "uppity" with either dancers or judges if the mood takes him. You mark my words!

I always mute Bruce so I never hear his remarks.

I tried that but then you end up missing other bits that the judges/dancers say......most annoying

I agree with this entirely. The contestants have fallen below the expected standard. I honestly believe from hearing his comments that Craig thinks he can dance! He can't even hold his hand out properly. Look at the opening sequence. He hasn't improved since that was filmed.

The topic on this thread is not about the standard of dancers or the judges...its about Bruce!

I drink to drown him out I think the show would be better without him but I've got plenty gin for tonight so let the 'fun' begin

I'm chilling my Chardonnay as we speak!!!!!

In fact, in a warped sense, I'm quite looking forward to Brucie's "gaffs" and cringey moments! lol

Wonder if he'll make any suggestion of the Ali/Brian situation tonight...although no doubt he'll comment on the "American" smooth being right up Brian's street....

Fortunately I've missed the start as I was pouring myself a scotch and dry and finalising the rules of the drinking game with my daughter.

Yet again another inappropriate comment about Ali and Brian...will he ever let it drop?

BG...we get that you don't like Bruce but can I point out he doesn't write his own jokes on autocue. They have scriptwriters. So you are blaming Bruce for reading out loud.

I'm blaming Bruce for agreeing to read the words that the script writers write! If his ego is as big as its supposed to be, then more fool him for just reading off a cue card! Its doing him no favours

And if his ego isn't as big as it is supposed to be?

To be fair though, he is credited with writing some of the script, so I think he is repsonsible for some.

Either you say he's got a big ego or you say he's a fool for doing what he's told. You can't have it both ways.
