When I am finished watching a programme and close down the HDR it goes into stand-by and is ready to record everything that I have scheduled.

Subsequently I find two possible situations.

a) The STB screen is dimmed out and when I select 'ON' I go through the lengthy BOOT routine.

b) The STB screen shows the current UK time and selecting 'ON' results in an immediate switch on.

I would welcome learned advice on what is going on. Can I actively select either one of the options ?

The foxsat wakes from sby into recording sby 15mins before a recording is due to await for the programme start time transmission from the broadcaster so apart from audio and video output it's actually booted up.

You can keep the clock on the screen at the cost of increasing the sby power consumption by disabling power saving in sby but it won't make much if any difference to the boot up time

I wonder if the software update will shorten the boot time? That's the most irritating "feature" of the Humax I've encountered thus far. However, I was aware of this before purchase so I shouldn't moan too much. I can live with it.

Praps a sip of tea,a puff of a ciggy,a blow of your nose,a yawn,a scratch,pat the dog.......Mmmm it has to be something important.....

If you think how long the Sky Receivers takes from switching on (not from standby) it takes ages, and considering the Humax feels stone cold most of the time I'm not an energy saving freak but a cool unit must reduce the possibility of a fire which is far more important, I can live with it’s boot up time, my DVD player takes nearly as long
