Why is this dull dancing show such a hit?

It's predictable boring rubbish every week.

Bring back an updated Generation Game with Graeme Norton please!

I only dipped in to see what it was like.

It's an appalling programme.

An old pensioned off game show host presiding over a team of nasty judges talking a lot of tripe about amateur dancers in a big show setting.

It's poor quality peak time television and the BBC (despite exporting the format) should deliver better entertainment on Saturday nights.

Switch to another channel, maybe To ITV's offering: - Another take on an old classic (New Faces, Opportunity Knocks) The Karaoke Factor

Note the keyword 'updated'.

Better prizes, more challenging games, different locations etc, plenty of scope for the format and 1,000,000 miles better than boring farts discussing ballroom dancing in a candy floss studio that looks like the Blackpool Tower Ballroom that 'Come Dancing' came from for years.

Judges bitching about amateur celebrity dancers... I don't think it's great entertainment.

The dances, the costumes, the glamour, the 'journey', the spin-off show...I'm sorry you don't enjoy it but loads and loads of people love it! Have you watched previous series or just this one or just tonight, which I admit was rather uncomfortable viewing?

It's not more over-rated than 'Doctor Who' surely?

We'll be lucky! This is as good as it gets, trust me.

Doctor Who is not over-rated (IMHO). Neither is Strictly.

Some of us old geezers enjoy both!

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, OP, and if you don't enjoy Strictly that's fair enough.

We can't all like the same things but, fortunately, most of us don't find it necessary to share our dislike or indifference with the world at large.

I hope you find something more to your taste next Saturday and have a more enjoyable evening.

How on earth did the BBC manage to sell it to , is it 38 countries if it is so bad .? where it is a huge success and makes the BBC a lot of money .

It is very much a question of personal choice.

ETA Very well said

Nah. You will die if you are holding your breath for THAT to happen. Suggestion: why not switch over to ITV and watch that insufferable, manipulative, chavvy Z-Factor instead?
