[quote=mr.bojangles;36089916]The TangoWaltz (seriously, did they make that dance up that afternoon?) was incredible. The highlight of the show and my favourite pro-dance of the series so far. Vincent & Flavia do have incredible dance chemistry.[quote]

Vincent has been saying quite a lot this year that they were trying to do a new tango-vals but never seemed to have the time to choreograph it - but it was brilliant....

Yikes! I thought it was spectacularly unattractive and unflattering

The combo has sparked all kinds of imaginings in my head. Samba doble, anyone?

(I think maybe the tango developed from the waltz, non?)

Oh, and I agree with you katie_p. Bad, bad dress.

Loved the tango/waltz. Hubby was suitably impressed too and he doesn't normally watch Strictly, although I think he secretly enjoyed it. Now I love Flavia but I agree about that dress - looked like her nightie! Sorry Flavia, still doesn't matter so much when you can dance like that.

Average.

I was hoping for a more Vals-y Vals to be honest, that was pretty much pure Tango from what I could tell.

Kind of pointless calling it a Vals really...

They got decent music, nice costumes and good dancers. Also from what I remember they had better camera work.”

Was that the one with Zoe ??

Average???

Are you serious??

I could watch those two dance all night! Beautiful!

As for the group samba - I agree about the hairy chested one - but I couldn't take my eyes off the wonderful Mr and Mrs Bennett!

It's Vals - Argentine Waltz.

It's a cousin to Argentine Tango - but done to 3-beat time.

Yes, might be worthwhile... probably too much to ask the pros to learn that as well though.

Milonga might be more do-able, and that looks more different to AT.

For a Vals, yes.

You can pop in to several venues in London on a weekend evening and see better demonstrations of Vals.

As for V&F I'd prefer they rither stuck to AT, or they did something more vals-y.

Doing AT to Vals music just doesn't work for me.

You see - you obviously know far more about dancing than me - I just know what I like to watch

And I really like to watch Vincent and Flavia

Absolutely - and Vincent's & Flavia AT was more than superb.

Preferred the vals to the AT we're normally subjected to, so that's a good thing. Flavia's dress, however, was hideous. I think costume have a vendetta against her at the moment...

I've just found the Samba i was thinking about.......it was the one with Zoe in (although the pros really turn it on when she leaves the floor) and it was in Series 4.

I loved Flavia and Vincent's tango waltz, but I agree with those who found Flavia's dress unappealing.

The group Samba seemed quite chaotic and wasn't even redeemed by the ever gorgeous Matt Cutler.

Whilst by no means a Brendan fan I think he's a superb dancer and, in my opinion, Katya is not quite in his league.

Think I was expecting more from the samba too especially as Lilia choreograhed it. I think it may have been the music that didn't do it for me. Plus the camerawork was fairly dreadful and costume did them no favours with the men's clashing coloured shirts.

Without reading all the post, I think they have danced a really mesmerizing WANGO!

Argentine Tango in three-beat, instead of the usual four-beat ballroom tango or AT. Three beat music often makes a dance look more graceful. That, coupled with the inherent sexiness of a tango, is a potent mix indeed.

I hate the AT, so I'm so glad they danced a vals. I know it's quite similar, but the tone was so different and it didn't give me the nauseous feeling that the AT does. Well done Vincent and Flavia for that.

I hazard a guess that you don't like AT because it's too flashy?

Actually if AT is done in a non-competitive, non-showdancey way, it's very, very brooding and sexy...

Or maybe you are just a romantic at heart and a waltz/VW kind of person?

Eeeh, I just find it a bit sleazy, I think. It's to do with the fluidity of the female and yeah, I'm not even sure, it just always makes me feel a bit ill. I love the ballroom tango though.

And yeah, I do love the waltz, it's my second favourite dance.

Yikes, I wasn't thinking of that one! I just couldn't take it seriously with Zoe in it. I can't find the series three one on youtube sadly, but that's the one I was thinking of. IMO it knocks spots off any pro Samba since.
