It's a little-known fact that 80's popstar Kim Wilde did backing vocals on this Johnny Hates Jazz track

Yes, exactly the same here mate, when i was a kid! Between this and the Sledgehammer video, they freaked me out! But i've really liked Stop-motion
and plasticine animation since then.

I frickin' love that song. Classic.

Also, these other, slightly quirky, 80's greats.
Peter Gunn - The Art Of Noise
Paranoimia - The Art Of Noise feat. Max Headroom
Hey Matthew - Karel Fialka (I'm surprised no-one's sampled this yet)

I love that song! Another two in the same vein that I love are "Move Closer" by Phyllis Nelson and "See The Day" by Dee C. Lee.

Saw them live twice and even have a cassette of their unreleased album! The gigs were great - lots of sci-fi movie samples played inbetween the tracks. Their other single was mighty fine too - "Take me to the Fire". A great futurist pop band.

One of my all time favourites!

I also loved -:

Eighth Day - Hazel O'Connor
Also 'Will You?' also by Hazel.

Amazing song. Some of the finest lyrics written in the 80's.

Agadoo - Black Lace

Matthew Wilder - Break My Stride

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY41o-iZStI

Spagna - Call Me

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA2nXVSCcCE

Sabrina - Boys Boys Boys (Summertime love)

and you probably wont know this one cos it's a dutch hit from 1989 but I absolutely LOVE the bassline on this song. Way ahead of its time.

tbh i much prefer wylies earlier incarnation as 'wah heat' and his 81 miss 'better scream'... absolutely fantastic, how it never charted is a complete travesty!

id suggest

the eurythmics - 'never gonna cry again'
teardrop explodes - 'when i dream'
dexys midnight runners - 'dance stance'
adventures - 'broken land'
