Time for Len to go?

What is the point of Len being a judge?
He will not give a low mark to some no matter how badly they perform.
He gave Laila a seven for that abject "jive" last night.
Also his smutty schoolboy attempts at humour ( eg asking Tuffers to "polish his balls") are an embarassment.
If Brucie goes he should take Len with him.

Well taking your points in order -

1 - he is the only judge who has any real, decent experience of ballroom dancing.
2 - he realises, unlike some, that they are amateurs and he awards points based on things they do well as opposed to highlighting all the mistakes.
3 - not being a dance expert i wouldnt know if he over scored or the others underscord the routine. Bruno was certainly marking lower than usual last night.
4 - at least he is funny sometimes unlike the host. Its a cricket thing anyway.

Agree with the above

Rubbish post, he is the only one out of the 5 who actually knows ballroom dancing.

If anyone should go it's Bruno. All he does is jump up and down and shouts over everyone.

I'd much rather have the grumpy, critical, lower-scoring Len that I see on DWTS on our version.

If anyone has to go, Alesha must be first. It's farcical she should sit in judgement of performers she is not fit to wipe the ***** of!

I've noticed a difference in Len on DWTS this season. He really has it in for Dimitry's choreography too. I really had to laugh when Carrie-Ann and Bruno turned away from him when they gave them a 10 each for the lambada

Oooh I haven't seen that yet!

Don't get to watch the latest episode until tomorrow night.

I haven't completely seen it but I caught that bit of the results yesterday morning. I was nearly crying because I thought they weren't going to repeat it tomorrow night but thank god they are because I'd like to see what else was said.

Whilst I agree he is the only judge who has any real, decent experience of ballroom dancing and, therefore, should be the one who has the most credibility, I feel he has lost a lot of that credibility by only scoring 7 or higher regardless of performance. By using such a narrow range of scores he regularly ties people who are poles apart in terms of ability.

Craig (and Arlene) is (are) the only one(s) who have consistently judged it properly so I would prefer that we had the judging panel full of Craig's and Arlenes.

Len has been much more mellow this year. I would keep him. We could get someone far worse! These things have happened before.

I think Len is fine this year, much more like his old self than last year.

I've felt that Len has been almost marginalised this series- he doesn't seem as prominent as before. Is he himself losing interest or is it the BBC?

I don't agree, especially when he has had to use his casting vote as head judge three times already.

I think his comments still have the most credibility, it is just that when it comes to the actual scoring he seems to make allowances for how far into the competition the celebrity is (which is fine if applied to all contestants), how difficult the dance is (unfair on those doing the perceived easier dance), how well the celebrity has performed previously and so on.

I suppose reflecting on that more (and doing that reflecting since commenting pretty much as above in another thread) you could say that his approach helps keep the slow starters in the competition long enough to blossom, at the expense of those who flatter in the early rounds but then just get overtaken as everyone else improves. Perhaps that is a desirable outcome.

Thank god there is someone on the panel who can instantly spot a technically incorrect ballroom dance, despite it looking flashy or theatrical.

You'd better get used to watching it on Friday nights coz I think the Monday repeats might be stopping.... although I might be wrong I think I saw an advert for something else at 9 pm on Mondays.

I think Id prefer the Len on DWTS too... He is a lot fairer with his paddles. He knows that 5 and below exist for starters....

Len actually found a 4 paddle from somewhere on DWTS. I didn't know he had one.

I think Bruno is being stricter this year to make up for the missing Arlene. It's funny seeing Craig and Bruno agree with the scores, it's barely ever happened before.

Len's stricter on DWTS because he doesn't like the flashiness. If SCD celebrities became that flashy he'd mark down as well. Don't know why he appears to have an issue with Dmitry though - I don't think his choregraphy has been bad over the last two weeks.

BTW, checking the upcoming TV schedule it appears as though Dancing with the Stars is being repeated at least over the next two Monday's.

Exactly. Not sure what his problem is. Dimitry is a fantastic choreographer!
