When I had Humax Freeview I could switch the humax on and then the set and it would be running on the freeview
recorder, I now have Frestat Humax PVR and when I switch on I have to change the source each time to HDMI 2the TvVhas its own built in tuners Panasonic .
Is there any way round this problem especially as the sound from the TV is very loud but OK when PVR is on

Panasonics usually have one HDMI socket that will auto-switch, so try the other sockets (if there's more than one).

But basically, HDMI doesn't usually auto-switch.

First welcome. The freeview was connected to the Panasonic via SCART, correct? Pin 8 of a SCART lead can control a suitable TV with this pin (it applies a voltage that says to the TV "use me").

The HDMI does not have a similar signal, instead it relies on the TV to 'see' a video feed on the HDMI and switch to it. From what I remember on other threads, the Panasonic will only autoswitch to a feed on HDMI 1.

I believe there is also a set-up option on the Panasonic (preferences, AV on?) you have to set, otherwise it will ignore the feed.

Others with a Panasonic will no doubt be along to correct this. On the other hand, some people have been asking how to stop autoswitching, as they may be watching something using the built-in TV receiver, and the PVR will switch on to record something and change what you are watching.

On the volume issue, if you have not already done so, turn on the TV to its internal tuners and set the volume level you want. Now turn on the Foxsat and select it (if autoselection not yet working) and turn up the volume on the Foxsat until it is as loud as the TV on its own. The volume control on the Foxsat controller affects the volume output over HDMI (although from the HD channel it seems to be off at 0 level and full from 5 to 100), and is defaulted to the mid point (50 on the display). The sound level should then be the same no matter which you watch (my Foxsat is set to max volume for a similar reason).

Hd channels with Dolby Digital sound have a fixed volume as the sound level can only be varied by recoding the signal.

I can confirm that my Panasonic switches perfectly. HDR to HDMI socket 1, but as the OP said, on your TV you must have "Power on preference " set to AV. On the TV select Menu, Setup. POWER ON PREFERENCE set to AV

Hope this helps
