Katy Pezza is following in the footsteps of Mariah, Alicia and Lauryn by releasing a unplugged album.

She is vile live so i am shocked at this.

So am I. Watched some of her festival appearances on tv and she really can't sing.

If she's so vile live, how does she get absolutely truckful loads of people at her gigs then? I've not been to any, but everyone who does them gets loads of people attending them.

I haven't seen Katy Perry live but I think I would probably enjoy myself at one of her concerts.

However, could I listen to an unplugged album from her, and just listen to her singing live? Probably not, because she's a weak singer. That doesn't matter when you're at one of her gigs and as long as she's still entertaining you - but if you're just listening to her sing acoustically on a CD then that would be much less enjoyable.

I enjoy her music, but she is a terrible live singer.
People go to her gigs because they want to hear the songs from the record or the ones they heard on the radio. People buy tickets based on the fact that they like her songs. Since she's just starting out, you don't know how bad a singer she is until you actually experience her live.
The test of a great live singer or performer is can they still sell tickets 10 or 15 years later when their record sales are no longer so high or their songs aren't being played on the radio.

It seems strange she would want to do an Unplugged album after just one studio album. Most singers like Mariah etc. wait to do that until they have more albums to draw songs from.

well that's the thing isn't it? she's clearly not the strongest singer in the world, but she has bundles of personality and always puts on a great show.

but i too am surprised she's releasing a live album. i'd go to one of her shows for the entertainment and performance she gives it, but listening to her on a full live cd? not sure. but who knows - maybe she will prove us wrong! not too hopeful though.

that said, i am looking forward to her 2nd studio album. it'll probably make or break her, and as a fan i'm really hoping she comes up with something impressive.

She's always sounded dire live when I've heard her on TV but I saw her at the Capital FM Summertime Ball and she sounded really good. Being in the audience must make a difference.

I've heard some good live performances from her (and some terrible) she's really hit and miss but it could be a good album, she's not a bad singer. She can be though.

what has she done to make MTV love her so much as well?

she's performed at 2 VMA's in a row, is going to present the EMA's for the 2nd year in a row. She's like their golden girl, yet hasn't really had many songs out this year.

DS is a bit behind, this has been out for months. And I'm sorry dude but she can sing live, she's actually an incredible singer live.
BEFORE you jump down my throat and say no she cant look at blah blah, I KNOW she has sounded crap on basically, most TV performances and festivals. And I don't know why she does it, but she shouts and talks through half her songs, yet she sings them at gigs. It's bizarre, but if you watch the preview for the unplugged she sounds class, she always sounds good acoustic too.

I'm a MASSIVE KP fan, and even I know she hasn't done herself favours when she's done, well... erm, odd performances of her songs, but she really can sing. I just wish she'd do one of her usual gig performances lol.
