Will have to keep an eye on this at work (i work for Talktalk). Upto now, the only announcement that's been made is there is a new director of TV, but nothing mentioned about a specific "Talktalk TV" yet.

What does the message and intro actually say?

Sorry if I mislead, still has Tiscali on it but also TalkTalk underneath (on the intro screen as it's loading) and go into MyTV and it says Tiscali is now part of TalkTalk.

Wonder if it will become TalkTalk TV eventually?

Hopefully. I'm a talktalk customer and would love to get the IPTV service.

You can get it by logging onto the Tiscali website and check your line to see if its available on your exchange.

It has now expanded outside London and Stevenage and has patchy coverage in a few other places across the country.

To move to Tiscali you will need to get MAC code and then give this to the Tiscali side of TalkTalk, it is because it is still recognised as seperate companies as they haven't been properly merged yet.

There are no plans to merge the two companies fully just yet anyway. All Tiscali customers have been sent a welcome email and FAQ and articles have been posted on both the Tiscali and Talktalk website.

If we (Talktalk customer services) get a call from a Tiscali customer, we have to tell them to call CS on their usual number.

Tiscali customers do have the option to move to Talktalk if they so wish, and we have a special package for them called Talktalk Pro (which has just been made available to Talktalk customers, too).

Would I not need a BT landline though? I know when I looked at moving a while ago, it wasn't possible to switch between LLU providers without reactivating BT first.

This is part of the planned brand awareness program (raising the customer awareness to the TT ownership). This will start appearing on your bills and is on the website already.

According to the FAQ on the Tiscali Website:

Quote:
“I am a Tiscali TV customer – what will happen to my TV?
Nothing at all - TalkTalk is committed to continuing and investing in your TV service. You may notice some 'TalkTalk' branding on your screen, but apart from that everything else will stay the same. No change to your package, content or add-ons and you don't need to reset your set top box. Just keep watching as normal.”

I wonder what investments will be made? I hope they have an open consultation, to see what channels and services that we want!

Hopefully TTV will take off big time, resulting in improved service and content for us all!

Yes they will have to get ITV player and Demand 5 to really make a go of it.
Plus the back catalogues of BBC and ITV need to be added.
The VOD programmes are quite limited and the range of films poor.

The existing catchup service seems to be limited at best and dwindling in number

I am very hopeful that now the dust has started to settle on the ownership front that TalkTalk/Tiscali will start to promote the service and expand its reach.

I find that despite the slightly limited choice of catch up material available what is there is very good and often updated incredibly quickly - particularly the BBC stuff.

A definite boon if you don't want to tie up space on the hard drive of a T+ box, or indeed you don't have the recorder.

It's one of Tiscali TV's major bonuses and one which I believe they'd be wise to enhance and use as a selling point if & when they ramp up the sales pitch..

Other way to tell talktalk have taken over is the dial-up like speeds at peak times!!

I wonder if we might, now, get the red button services. They've always been "coming soon", and thats from when I signed up to homechoice in their early days!

Agreed

Red button services are a must have these days - let's hope that they sort this one out as it's the one major thing the service lacks - imho at least..

Any update seems they have a chance to join Canvas, but are still thinking about TV strategy!
