"A source said" - I think we can take this with a pinch of salt.

Also, I like the way they've reported the "backwards dress" comment as a massive insult that everyone was offended by when that... really wasn't what happened.

Oh, Daily Mail...

Oh, Daily Mail...”

There are some seriously gullible people on these boards. Then again, if you're reading the Daily Mail already.........!

Yay! Daily Fail try to heat up a three week old story. Love the fact they quote a reader saying he should be sacked who lives in the USA!

It's taken 2 days to hit the forums too - they were too busy with the Craig/Brendan/Bruce thing.
I guess we can see the list of priorities here *another

Im sure Laila rose above it as usual, and that she is used to Antons silly comments, the only thing that worries me is if she cant bear dancing with Anton anymore and tries to get voted out!

OMG, when was she made a saint?! OK she has her PR people as members on these boards but just what is your problem with Anton? What are these silly comments? And, answer me one thing: Anton has been the most popular pro with his partners who have all gone on record as adoring working with him. He still appears with Lesley, Esther and Kate and Jan Ravens was full of praise for him in the press last week. So are you seriously telling me that any 'reported' problems are all his fault? Methinks some terrible casting by the SCD team in getting in someone whose career is going nowhere, whose personal life is in trouble and who is a lousy dancer!

I am quite sure most of the Daily Mail reports , and those of many other papers , are exaggerated at least , probably written with huge " poetic licence " and at worst largely incorrect.

I am intrigued as to who is " leaking " these stories . Anton or Laila? the camera operators in the training rooms with them ? BBC editors ? PAs ?
More importantly , why?

Why now leak stories which cast one of the show's most popular pros in a poor light and also hardly improve the reputation of the show as a whole?

I can only go back to the comment made by Kelvin Mackenzie ( ex Sun editor) on Newsnight , regarding private PR hired to punt the show. He suggested the BBC should get rid of them and forget PR of this kind and implied the leaks were all done deliberately.

ETA Arlene's Boy , I am no huge fan of Anton per se, But I wholeheartedly agree with much of what you say. If it is Laila , she has nothing to gain from this. Anton's past partners have had no similar problems at all.

I agree with much of your post though this is the Kelvin McKenzie who fabricated disgusting stories about the Hillsborough disaster and has refused to apologise even though his team at the Sun told him the stories weren't true.

This is true !

It was an interesting discussion though , and he has left the job.

He's a vile human being but he might know what he's talking about her but then again whilst he was editing the paper they ended up being sued by Elton John as they were taken in by a fomer rent boy who turned out to be a chancer whose info had no bias in fact so then again perhaps not.

When I saw this thread title I thought the next line was going to be.

One of cross beams gone out of skewe on treddle.

Actually the sketch this is from kind of sums up the whole Press against Anton.

calm down! i happen to like Anton but he is acting the fool even more than usual and i do think Laila doesnt particularly like him that much

Their relationship is beginning to remind of him and Patsy Palmer - he seems to be trying hard, and taking a huge amount of flak in the process. Hope they do a good samba and have a quiet week next week - or if it's a bad samba they'll have a quiet week anyway.

Well that might have more to do with her than him is what I'm saying. Six previous partners have all enjoyed working with him and at least four remain friends so it kind of suggests that he isn't the problem. As for acting the fool; well that's your interpretation. Given the dire entertainment being served up by this year's series and the complete lack of any humour coming from any other celebrities and the well-past-sell-by-date Brucie I frankly welcome anything funny. The frock comment on Saturday was pretty much the best moment of the show and clearly enjoyed by the audience.

Laila didn't seem upset about the dress joke as far as I could see

The Mail exaggerated that so why should we believe the rest?

Arlene's Boy mentioned on the merged jive thread that Laila missed a specially arranged session with Chris Marques to work on the samba - sounds like Anton is trying to get some help in, but to no avail. It was on page 5.

I agree.

I don't get all these comments about Laila and Anton not getting on. If you watch them on ITT they clearly have a very strong partnership - fiesty, but strong.

The reason their dress rehearsal was put back until last is because Laila was so upset about just how bad their jive was. She didn't fall out with Anton, she was just very upset.

It is clear that Laila is a strong character and I think Anton is trying his hardest to get her to do her best, but so far Laila has been her own worst enemy and I hope what she said on ITT about having a whole new attitude toward Latin is true and works out for them.

A unnamed "source" and the Daily Mail? And yet some people on here still take it seriously?

I honestly thought last week's revolting Jan Moir piece would have woken the majority of people up to what the Daily Mail is really about. How low do these kind of rags have to stoop before the public see them for what they are?

Very true. Laila was apparently upset and very emotional at her inability to "get" the jive steps. She was upset before the dance as she knew deep down that she was going to fail (at least, that is what she said on ITT, a much more believable source than anything that the Mail can dredge up).

It seems to me that the Mail have latched on to this and have spun their own story around it.

hum - I thought they looked uncomfortable together on ITT the other night

I haven't been watching them that closely to be honest - bit bored of it all - but there is a tension there I think

maybe they just don't like each other very much?

he's obviously a bit of a tit and she's a negative whiner so that's not a good mix is it

The Dress remark was made as a light hearted compliment, and Bruce's remark 'He's a fool' was said affectionately, not critically. My God what programme do these journalists watch? People are so damn thinskinned now, they see insults in every word. There was no insult intended in either case. Some people should get a life!
