Does Craig (Blackpool's Favourite Son) have the support of the town behind him?

I was just wondering if Craig (Blackpool's Favourite Son) has the support of the town behind him.

I know in Scotland whenever we have one of our acts in a show like this (eg BB,XF or IACGMOOH) we get really behind them.

Does anyone from Blackpool know if there is a campaign under way in the town to get Craig (Blackpool's Favourite Son) to Blackpool Tower.

He's been in the local paper a bit, but I'm not so sure about any campaigns as we've moved away from the immediate area. I think there was more of a backing for Jodie in I'd Do Anything than there has been for Craig in Strictly, to be honest - though I could be wrong there.

Well maybe you need to start the campaign to get Craig (Blackpool's Favourite Son) more support

What you could do is make up some flyer's and knock on a few doors. In doing this the local TV channels will pick up on this and give Craig (Blackpool's Favourite Son) more air time

If you put in the hours the rewards can be staggering.I know from campaigns up here in Scotland for Big Brother etc how these things can take off.

But I'm not backing him!

Ironically, I probably could - my mum works for the Blackpool Gazette - but no. I think the difference between Jodie and Craig is that Jodie was a much stronger contender (as well as actually being from Blackpool).

Well you as you are Blackpool don't you think you should be getting rigt behind Craig (Blackpool's Favourite Son).

Even if you are not though you should maybe try and get you mum to put s story in the Gazette about Craig (Blackpool's Favourite Son).

I'm not in Blackpool.

I'm not going to support Craig because he's from the same town as me - I want to support someone who's actually enjoyable to watch.

There have been stories in the Gazette. They had people 'round his parents' house for the first live shows. They're not ignoring him.

Do you think maybe they should try and get the support up a bit.You ever thought of maybe having someone on the day of SCD driving round Blackpool in a car with a loudspeaker

No I don't. Why on Earth would someone vote for someone just because of where they're from? It makes no sense...

I think it's a different thing entirely, to be honest.

Craig isn't very good. I don't want someone who's not very good to win. I don't care where the winner's from in the slightest.

I appreciate your entitled to have your own favourite of course I do but don't you get any sense of pride when someone from round where you live does good in a National competition

A) He's not from Blackpool. He's from Lytham. To use your own example, it would be like you supporting your next door neighbour in the World Cup. Do you do that, I wonder?

B) Strictly is on a Saturday evening. No one who is from Blackpool and who doesn't work in the tourist trade will ever be in the town on a Saturday evening.

Only very vaguely - and as long as they're doing well because they're good! Before we started I thought it would be nice for him to do well, and I still think it would be nice. However, his dancing isn't that great, so I'm not going to support him because we happen to be from the same place.

To be fair, Espresso, I'm from Lytham too.

I noticed that from something you said earlier today.

Seeing as we're being fair, I would also like Craig to do well. Not because he's from near here, because he seems like a nice lad when he's being interviewed. And I like Flavia. And my favourite, Mr D Bennett is out.
But really, it's because I've always had a bit of a thing for his brother, the divine Dean Lennox Kelly. So if Craig stays in a bit more, maybe we'll get to see friends and family being interviewed and we'll see the lush Mr DLK.

Shallow, Espresso; veeeeeeeeeeery shallow.

I'm a fine one to be taking exception at Bhoy 1888's similarly specious reasoning for supporting anyone.
Aww, sorry, Bhoy 1888.

Aha, well, it's as good a reason as any...

I heard today that he is now getting the Coronation Street support too

Hows the feeling in Blackpool tonight. Is the town getting excited about tomorrow and is the atmosphere electric.

Is the Craig bandwagon gathering any pace tonight?

The local paper's going with the rather more exciting news that Whoopi Goldberg is coming, I'm afraid...

What rather than the fact that the most famous resident ever is facing the biggest week of his life this week?

He's really not the most famous resident ever. In any way.

You got that right, my parents live in Blackpool, they are retired hoteliers and used to hate the place when the sun went down, it turns into a zoo !
